Abstract:
Directional albedo of a particular article, such as an identity card, is measured and stored. When the article is later presented, it can be confirmed to be the same particular article by re-measuring the albedo function, and checking for correspondence against the earlier-stored data. The re-measuring can be performed through us of a handheld optical device, such as a camera-equipped cell phone. The albedo function can serve as random key data in a variety of cryptographic applications. The function can be changed during the life of the article. A variety of other features are also detailed.
Abstract:
A figure pattern expressing information to be embedded, or a position of an area in which the information to be embedded exists, is embedded in an area other than the background of image data, thereby generating image data embedded with a watermark. Then, the figure pattern is detected from the generated image data embedded with the watermark, and embedded information expressed by the detected figure pattern or embedded information existing in an area at a position expressed by the detected figure pattern is detected.
Abstract:
A text watermarking method embeds an auxiliary message in an original electronic text document to form a watermarked text document. The method applies a spreading function to message symbols to spread the symbols over a carrier, which forms a modulated carrier. It maps elements of the modulated carrier to corresponding inter-word spaces in the electronic text document, and applies an embedding function to modify the corresponding inter-word spaces according to elements of the modulated carrier signal such that the modified inter-word spaces hide the modulated carrier signal in the watermarked text document. The message symbols are automatically decodable from the watermarked document without the original electronic text document. A compatible decoder extracts the auxiliary message from a printed or electronic watermarked text document. The decoder automatically measures inter-word spaces in the watermarked text document. It estimates elements of a modulated carrier signal embedded in the inter-word spaces to form an estimated modulated carrier signal, and applies a de-spreading function to the estimated modulated carrier signal to extract message symbols.
Abstract:
A watermark embedding method for embedding a secret message sequence in a document. The techniques include obtaining layout information of the document, extracting a digest of the document by using a Hash function, calculating embedded positions where the secret message sequence is embedded in the document, and dispersedly hiding the secret message sequence in each of the calculated embedded positions by altering the layout of the document. Also provided is a watermark embedding apparatus, a corresponding watermark detecting method and apparatus, and a method and system for detecting document integrity. The integrity of documents in various forms can be detected, and secret information to be hidden can be embedded therein and extracted therefrom. The techniques described are not limited to the document either in soft copy or in hard copy and have good robustness.
Abstract:
A digital watermarking system and method is provided. The digital watermarking system mainly includes a storing unit (30), a text obtaining module (31), a dot matrix determining module (32), an encrypting module (33), and a storing module (34). The storing unit is for storing text information, the text information including one or more dot matrix files. The text obtaining module is for obtaining one dot matrix file to be watermarked from the storing unit. The dot matrix file includes plural dot matrixes, each of which has a matrix margin and includes plural pixels. The dot matrix determining module is for earmarking the dot matrix to be adjusted to obtain a watermark. The encrypting module is for adjusting the matrix margin of the earmarked dot matrix. The storing module is for storing watermarked text information in the storing unit. Related methods are provided.
Abstract:
A method for image processing comprising inputting and reading a combined image that includes a latent image unperceivable by the human eye, a patterned image in the background allowing the latent image to appear clearly on a recording medium when data recorded on a recording medium is copied onto another recording medium, and text and/or image data embedded with a digital watermark. The text and/or image data is extracted from the combined image and the digital watermark extracted from the text and/or image data. A permission code enabling copying of image data composed of a combination of a patterned image and the extracted text and/or image data onto a recording medium is input. The copying is regulated based on the extracted digital watermark and the permission code.
Abstract:
A novel method is disclosed for embedding hidden information in a document comprising characters, including: determining hidden information to be embedded in each class of layout transformation respectively; acquiring a code sequence for each class of layout transformation by coding the hidden information to be embedded in the class of layout transformation; performing layout transformation on characters from the document according to the acquired code sequence for each class of layout transformation respectively.
