Antenna assemblies are described herein. In particular, described herein are multi-focal-point antenna devices and compact radio frequency (RF) antenna devices. Any of these assemblies may include a primary feed that includes a single patterned emitting surface from which multiple different beams of RF signals are emitted corresponding to different antenna input feeds each communicating with the patterned antenna emitting surface. The antenna assembly is therefore capable of emitting beams in the same direction having different polarizations using a single primary feed. Also described herein are compact RF antenna devices having a lightpipe that passes through the single patterned emitting surface.

A dual-reflector antenna comprises a main reflector traversed by a feed source and a sub-reflector. The sub-reflector comprises a dielectric body extending between a first end that is small in diameter and a second end that is greater in diameter, the small-diameter end being connected to the end of the feed source constituted by a metal tube filled with a dielectric material. The end of the feed source connected to the sub-reflector comprises a housing, having an inner depth and inner diameter, built into the dielectric material. The small-diameter end of the sub-reflector comprises an inner portion having a substantially cylindrical shape, able to fit into the housing, having an outer length and outer diameter. The outer length and outer diameter of the small-diameter end of the sub-reflector are respectively less than the inner depth and inner diameter of the feed source, so as to form a space between the inner portion of the sub-reflector and the dielectric wall of the housing.

One embodiment of the present invention provides a radio assembly. The radio assembly includes an antenna housing unit that houses a pair of reflectors which are situated on a front side of the antenna housing unit, a printed circuit board (PCB) that includes at least a transmitter and a receiver, and a backside cover. The PCB is situated within a cavity at a backside of the antenna housing unit and the backside cover covers the cavity, thereby enclosing the PCB within the antenna housing unit. One embodiment of the present invention provides a user interface for configuring a radio. The user interface includes a display and a number of selectable tabs presented on the display. A selection of a respective tab results in a number of user-editable fields being displayed, thereby facilitating a user in configuring and monitoring operations of the radio.

The sub reflection mirror is disposed to face an opening of the power feeding waveguide and reflects the radio wave radiated from the opening. The main reflection mirror is disposed to face the sub reflection mirror and outwardly radiates the radio wave reflected by the sub reflection mirror. A front surface of the main reflection mirror has a shape formed by rotating a line reaching one side and the other side of a predetermined parabola curve at least once, around a rotational axis. A front surface of the sub reflection mirror has a shape formed by rotating either one of a stepped line and a wavy line around the rotational axis.

An antenna includes a main reflector with a focal circle about an axis. A waveguide horn extends from the main reflector along this axis. A sub-reflector is mounted beyond the distal end of the waveguide horn with an annular gap remaining between the sub-reflector and the distal end of the waveguide horn. The annular gap forms a radial transmission line between a first wall on the sub-reflector and a second wall having outer annular corrugated surfaces on the distal end of the waveguide horn. The first wall of the transmission line is a body of revolution of elliptical shape on the sub-reflector. This ellipse is tilted at an angle with respect to the axis, and has a first focal point on the axis. The other focal point is preferably on or near the focal circle. The phase center of the waveguide horn does not coincide with either foci.
