摘要： A water-tight slide fastener is disclosed, which comprises a pair of support tapes each coated on one surface with a water-resistant material and a row of coupling elements mounted on each of the tapes along its longitudinal edge. The spaces or gaps defined in the row of elements being completely filled by a filling core when the latter swells in contact with a liquid to prevent entry of the liquid into a garment to which the fastener is applied.

摘要： A continuous coupling element consists of an elongated filament of a synthetic resin or the like which is wound substantially helically to provide a multiplicity of turns with a row of spaced apart coupling heads formed along one longitudinal side thereof. Each of the turns further includes first and second shanks which when seen in a plan view, are curved arcuately in opposite directions, in such a manner that the first shanks of the respective turns partly overlap the second shanks of the preceding (or succeeding) turns and are connected to the second shanks of the succeeding (or preceding) turns via arcuate bights remote from the coupling heads. The continuous coupling element is to be fastened to one surface of a stringer tape as by a row of stitches extending along the overlapping portions of the first and second shanks.

摘要： A waterproof slide type fastener or zipper assembly featuring side by side tape means the adjacent edges of which mount cooperatively designed interlocking loops or coils wherein the tapes and loops are coated and filled with a resilient material in the nature of a room temperature vulcanizable silicone rubber compound. The arrangement is such that the interlocking of the loops on the respectively adjacent edges of the tapes, through the medium of a slide type closure element, causes a compression and sealing adherence of the contained resilient material which forms a releasable but positive seal and bond between the parts. The energy stored in the compression of the resilient material insures against passage of water in the vicinity of the interlocking loops while permitting their ready separation, as and when required. The invention also contemplates a simple and inexpensive way of using vacuum to apply the resilient material to the loops or coils and their connected tapes.

摘要： A slide-fastener stringer has its turns (of continuous coil or meander coupling element) secured to its fabric support tapes by means of single-needle or double-needle double chain-stitch or lockstitch wherein bights of the needle thread straddle the coil turns and pass through the filler cords. The U-shaped bights of the needle-thread loops of each stringer half snugly embrace the individual turns and this thread is so tensioned that the looper or gripper thread lies completely along the opposite face of the support tape. The support tape is formed parallel to at least one of its longitudinal edges with a longitudinally extending valley or channel in which the looper, locking or gripper thread lies. In addition the upper side of the coil is formed with a longitudinally extending groove (formed by notches in the shanks of the turns) in which the needle thread lies. After stitching of the interleaved coils to the tapes the thermoplastic monofilament needle thread which has been stretched, is heated to thermally fix and shrink it.
