摘要: An apparatus for holding a plate-like material during a separation process. The apparatus includes a separating device that is movable, during the separation process, in a first axial direction that is transverse to a second axial direction that the plate-like material is conveyed in during the separation process. The apparatus also includes first and second transport tables. The first transport table has a first contact surface and the second transport table has a second contact surface. The first contact surface and the second contact surface are spaced apart by a gap along which the separating device is movable. The apparatus also includes at least one holding device that is operable hold the plate-like material relative to the first and second contact surfaces such that the plate-like material is movable along the first and second contact surfaces. The holding device is configured to support the plate-like material such that a first surface of the plate-like material, on which a cutting beam of the separating device impinges, faces toward the first and second contact surfaces during the separation process.

摘要: Systems and methods for cutting a cover from a portion of a housing of an electronic device, and positioning the cover within the housing are provided. An electronic device can include an interface having an actuator over which a cover is placed. The cover can by cutting away a portion of a housing of the electronic device. To improve the aesthetic appeal of the device, the orientation of the cover can be maintained while and after it is cut away from the housing by a fixture used for the cutting process. An adhesive sheet can be placed over the housing and the cover to ensure that the cover remains stationary relative to the housing once it is separated from the housing.

摘要: In a method and apparatus for controlling the deployment of a towline connecting a mooring craft to an ejected object comprising the steps of monitoring velocity to determine when a point for optimum braking has been achieved and then engaging a brake system to retard deployment of the towline, a DC motor augments and controls the brake system. The DC motor further controls the retrieval of the object. A cutter mechanism uses a first blade to grip the towing cable to maintain tension thereon as a second blade cuts the cable. A spring biased boom in combination with spring biased fins on the ejected object rapidly deploys the object from its storage housing. A locking mechanism secures the deployment mechanism in a stable locked position upon the object reaching its fully extended position.

摘要: The present invention relates to a film cutter assembly in which a blade housing slides bilaterally along a pair of rails. The blade housing houses a blade. An elongated rail base is coupled or integral with a pair of rails. The rails are formed of a material which provides an attractive or adhesion property to attract the film to the rail and maintain the film in flat position before and after cutting. A double-side adhesive tape can be applied to a surface of the elongated rail base which is adapted for attaching the elongated rail base to a carton of film.

摘要: A pipe severing device (1) and method utilizing a chain (13) having stress inducing wheels (19) efficiently and safely severs brittle materials including cast iron, vitreous clay, cement and asbestos pipe. The device includes an actuating handle (6) which pivots over a pipe support surface (3). Upon pivoting over the surface, holddown arms (7) attached to the actuating handle frictionally grasp a pipe. The handle may then pivot about a second point or remain rigid, in either case engaging a first limit switch (25) which actuates a hydraulic cylinder (35). The hydraulic cylinder tightens the chain causing the stress inducing wheels to create stress concentration points around the circumference of the pipe. Cracks propagate between stress concentration points, quickly severing the pipe. The pipe support surface includes resilient pads (5a,b) which further frictionally grasp the pipe.

摘要: The present invention relates to an apparatus for cutting motion picture film negatives. The improvements in the present invention film cutting apparatus enable the film cutter to cut the motion picture film negative with a precise, even, clean cut at a location mid-way between adjacent frames of film footage. This is necessary when using a new technique of negative cutting and splicing that allows no frame loss and still maintains all of the requirements of professional (state of the art) motion picture film processing. This has never before been done. The improvements include individual film seating plates which press the lengths of motion picture film to be cut against individual film support and ejection plates to assure that the lengths of film are securely held prior to and during the cutting operation. The present invention also provides safety features to assure that the operator will not accidentally cut himself during the operation.
