摘要: A method for wire electrode type electrical discharge machining and equipment employable therefor realize high accuracy in corner machining, such machining being conducted in combination with taper machining. The tension to be applied to a wire electrode is controlled in proportion to a change in Young's modulus of the wire electrode in addition to decreasing the machining current, whenever a corner machining and a taper machining are conducted in combination. The equipment for wire electrode type electrical discharge machining includes a memory for memorizing information indicating the relationship between the machining current and the amount of tension which is optimum to the machining current, a monitor for monitoring the electric discharge machining current, an optimum tension calculating device for calculating the tension optimum to the monitored machining current, and a tension control device for controlling the tension of the wire electrode in response to the calculated optimum tension.

摘要: A cut contour display method in a wire electric discharge machine for subjecting a workpiece to taper cutting by moving a workpiece relative to a wire electrode and moving a wire tensioning guide horizontally has a first step of entering a programmed path (WDP) lying on the lower surface of the workpiece, workpiece thickness, data including a taper angle or a vector indicating a positional offset between the upper and lower surfaces of the workpiece, and data specifying a number of cross-sectional contours. A second step includes obtaining a wire electrode path (WUP) on the upper surface of the workpiece, which is not a programmed surface, by using the programmed path (WDP), workpiece thickness, and the taper angle or vector indicative of the positional offset. A third step includes obtaining coordinate values of points on each cross-sectional contour at an end portion of each block by using data indicative of the wire electrode paths on the upper and lower surfaces of the workpiece and the number n of cross sections. A fourth step includes displaying, on a display unit, the wire electrode paths on the upper and lower surfaces of the workpiece, as well as each cross-sectional contour of the taper-cut surface, by using the data indicative of the wire electrode paths on the upper and lower surfaces of the workpiece and coordinate values of the points on each cross-sectional contour at the end portion of each block.

摘要: A machining control method for an electrical discharge machine compensates for the lagging of the wire electrode as the electrode is advanced from a straight line portion to a change of direction portion of the outline to be machined. The wire electrode is advanced from the straight line portion of the outline until it reaches the change of direction point of the outline and is then halted until the wire electrode lag is corrected. During the halt, machining takes place under a different set of conditions. When the lag is corrected, the wire electrode is advanced along the change of direction portion under a third set of machining conditions. When the wire electrode reaches another straight line portion, the outline machining of the workpiece is resumed under the first set of machining conditions. Also disclosed is a method of controlling the positioning of a workpiece by trial positioning a large number of workpieces having a variety of weights under a variety of load conditions of the control motor. The positioning accuracy of the trial positionings are measured and a table of correction values for positioning according to the desired positioning is calculated and stored. When positioning a workpiece to be machined, the weight and motor load are compared to the stored correction values, a correction value is determined, and the workpiece is positioned using the determined correction value.

摘要: A wire-cut electric discharge machining system is provided with a high-current, short-pulse discharge circuit for producing a high-current, short-pulse discharge between a wire and a workpiece, a low-current, pulse discharge circuit for producing a low-current, pulse discharge between the wire and the workpiece, and a control unit to alternately use both discharge circuits and to control the relative movement of the wire with respect to the workpiece. Main cutting along a predetermined path by the high-current, short-pulse discharge circuit is followed by at least one second cutting along a path adjacent the main cutting path by the low-current, pulse discharge circuit for each predetermined section, thereby performing electric discharge machining of the workpiece at an overall reduction of time.

摘要: A wire electrode type electrical discharge machining method in which a wire electrode is controlled by an NC device to automatically move along predetermined loci while forming an angle with respect to a workpiece which is being machined, wherein, even when a taper offset value occurring prior to an intersection of program loci is different from that after the intersection, the program can be readily executed. Wire electrode movement instruction codes and wire electrode inclination instruction codes are inputted to an NC device. The NC device then determines whether or not, with respect to the wire electrode inclination instruction codes, a wire electrode inclination before a corner is different from that after the corner. If the inclinations are different, a plurality of movement instructions are calculated and inserted between the movement instructions forming the corner. The wire electrode is then moved at the corner in accordance with the plurality of movement instructions thus calculated.

摘要: A wire-cut EDM method and apparatus in which an electrode wire traveling between a pair of wire-positioning guide members is laterally advanced, generally tangentially along a workpiece contour disposed therebetween to electro-erosively cut a precision contour in the workpiece contour with a depth of cut at most equal to the diameter of the wire. The fluctuating machining pressure, induced by the gap erosive electrical discharges and fluid injection, tends to undulate the traveling wire in the open space flanking the contour being cut and to misalign the axial position thereof away from a prescribed path of advance in the cutting zone. A rotary mechanism, rotatable about its axis of rotation coinciding with the straight-line path established for the traveling wire axis between the wire positioning guide members, carries a wire-backing support member disposed in the cutting zone and having wire supporting surfaces parallel to that straight-line path to hold the traveling wire against the machining pressure, and is rotated to orient the wire-backing support member so as to oppose those surfaces with the area of contour being cut and to avoid a collision of the support member with the workpiece.

摘要: A feedpath deviation preventive NC path-controlled machining system in which a plotting unit is used, in a preliminary operation in advance of a machining operation, to produce on a record medium a continuous plot equivalent to a programmed machining feed path to be followed by relative displacement between the tool member and the workpiece during the machining operation. In the latter, a sensing head is disposed in sensing relationship with the plotted record medium for relative displacement to the latter jointly with the relative displacement between the tool member and the workpiece. The sensing head continues to trace the continuous plot as long as the actual machining relative displacement proceeds along the programmed machining path to produce an OK signal. An output circuit unit is provided to respond to any disappearance of the OK signal representing a deviation of the actual displacement from the programmed path for providing a warning signal and/or a control signal which acts to deactuate the machining-feed drive system.

摘要: When cutting workpiece into a desired number of closed loop configurations by means of a wire-cut, electric discharge machine provided with an automatic wire feed mechanism, electric discharge machining is started from a machining start hole made in the workpiece corresponding to each closed loop configuration and is performed to a point where the electric discharge machining operation is stopped, thus a part of the closed loop configuration is left uncut. After fixing at least one portion of each closed loop configuration to the workpiece and inserting the wire electrode into the machining start hole by the automatic wire feed mechanism, the electric discharge machining operation is resumed to cut off the remaining uncut part. In the case of the wire electrode breaking during the electric discharge machining operation, the wire electrode is inserted by the automatic wire feed mechanism into the machining start hole and is moved to the position where it breaks along the route where the machining operation has already been performed, and then the electric discharge machining operation is resumed.
