    摘要: An incinerator is disclosed which includes apparatus for removing ash from an incinerating chamber and which comprises hydraulically operated plows that slide along the floor of the chamber to push the ash towards an ash trough. Ash removal efficiency is improved in accordance with the present invention by the hinged suspension of a brush from the plow face. An auxiliary plow is added to the waste material loading device to clear ash from the highest of several stepped floor levels even in the absence of no new load being entered. The auxiliary plow further includes a clevis assembly which pivots the brush away from the incinerator floor during reverse plow travel.

    摘要: A steam injection system for an incinerator. The incinerator includes a housing that defines a combustion chamber, and a plenum is mounted beneath the housing. Air for the combustion process is fed to the plenum and steam is separately introduced into the plenum. The air and steam are mixed and the mixture is introduced into the lower end of the combustion chamber through one or more inlet pipes. The steam acts to reduce high localized temperatures in the combustion chamber to minimize clinker formation, as well as maximizing the conversion of fixed carbon to carbon dioxide.

    摘要: Converging upper and lower conveyors transport loose waste from a receiving hopper toward an incinerator combustion chamber entrance at an adjustably predetermined normal rate, cooperating to compact the waste into a continuous plug and to force the plug through a confining passageway extending from the conveyors to the incinerator entrance, thereby feeding the waste plug to the burning firebed in the combustion chamber at a steady rate for causing waste combustion therein at a generally steady rate while sealing the entrance thereto against incoming air and outgoing heat or fire. The upper conveyor is movable and selectively biased downwardly for waste compaction when the conveyors transport a predetermined normal quantity of waste; but the bias is removed upon transport of an abnormal quantity, and a fire door at the entrance and a firestop spaced therefrom in the passageway are closed on whatever waste may be thereunder for further local compression thereof while the conveyors are reversed to travel at a higher rate to clear themselves if they are transporting a greater than normal quantity and speeded up to travel at the higher rate in feeding direction if transporting a lesser than normal quantity. Transport toward the incinerator is resumed upon clearing, but at the higher rate. The firestop opens, and, thereafter the fire door opens and the normal transport rate resumes upon again transporting a normal quantity of waste. The fire door and firestop also close if the conveyors are shut down, and serve when closed to further seal off the incoming waste from the heat and fire in the incinerator.

The system includes a crusher-extractor to divide the waste matter entrained in an air stream to produce a fuel mixture that is fed into one input of an exchanger-separator whose output supplies a pyrolytic burner coupled to a boiler.     摘要: A plant for burning waste which has a main combustion chamber to be chargedith the waste to be burnt and with fresh gases for burning the waste. From this main combustion chamber the burnt material and unburnt residual material including gases pass through a grate into a post-combustion chamber, the bottom of which is adapted to be closed, and which has lateral outlets for the waste gas. The post-combustion chamber which has a volume at least equalling the volume of the main combustion chamber has a wall structure extending from above into said post-combustion chamber for guiding gases passing through the grate toward the bottom of the post-combustion chamber. This wall structure is open at its lower end and is of highly heat resistant material as e.g. steel. The post-combustion chamber has a waste gas outlet through which the waste gas from the post-combustion chamber is discharged after it has, prior thereto, been purified by passing through filters between an outer wall and inner wall of the post-combustion chamber.

    摘要: An afterburner apparatus to eliminate combustible products in exhaust gases so as to produce a substantially pollution-free gas for discharge to atmosphere. The afterburner apparatus is especially suitable for use with incinerators wherein the exhaust gases from the main combustion chamber oftentimes contain burnable waste products due to incomplete combustion. However, it may also be used with other types of combustion equipment, such as furnaces, gas heaters, or the like, wherein they, too, discharge exhaust gases having some burnable waste products therein. The afterburner apparatus provides for a more complete comsumption of waste products in that it is capable of obtaining a higher temperature in its combustion zone because heated air is supplied thereto to support combustion, the use of the heated air resulting in a saving in the amount of fuel used to fire the combustion chamber. Ancillary to this, the heated air for the combustion chamber of the afterburner apparatus is heated by transfer of heat from already treated flue gases, and by not utilizing heat from the exhaust gases prior to their entry into the combustion chamber, these exhaust gases entering at a higher temperature, thus, making it easier to maintain the proper temperature in the combustion chamber.
