摘要: Disclosed is a process for conveying solid particulate biomass material to a reactor including: charging a quantity of solid particulate biomass material to a spool piece at a pressure P1; pressurizing the spool piece to a pressure P2, wherein P2 is greater than P1; conveying the solid particulate biomass material either directly to a reactor operated at or below P2 or first to a vibratory feeder and then to such reactor; isolating the spool piece from the vibratory feeder and or reactor and reducing the pressure in the spool piece to P1; and repeating these steps at least once. The vibratory feeder can include a bowl and an outlet spout extending tangentially from the bowl. Optionally, a hopper and a hopper-mounted solids conveyer, both resting on a mass measuring device, can be used to feed the solid particulate biomass material to the spool piece.

摘要: An apparatus, method, and system for combusting bridging fuel which includes biomass material. The apparatus includes an enclosure having a relatively thin wall defining a firebox. A combustion air manifold, and exhaust manifold, and heat exchanger are positioned along the center horizontal axis of the firebox. A fuel feed conveyor enters through the wall of the firebox and extends along the top of the firebox through a feed opening. A temperature sensor is positioned on the exterior of the wall of the firebox. A controller is operatively connected to the temperature sensor and the fuel feed conveyor. If the temperature sensor exceeds a set point, the controller automatically operates the fuel feed conveyor to refill the firebox with fuel. This can reinsulated the wall of the firebox so that fuel surrounds the combustion. Heat is extracted from the combustion by the heat exchanger while the exterior wall of the firebox is kept relatively cool by the insulating layer of fuel. The automatic fuel refill process allows combustion to be continuous instead of requiring shut-down of combustion and re-ignition after filling the firebox with fuel. In one aspect of the invention, the fuel feed conveyor can be automatically reversed after the firebox is filled to plug fuel in the feed opening to seal it and preserve a sole exhaust path through the exhaust manifold. A method according to the invention causes a refilling of fuel into a firebox upon sensing a condition indicative of a collapse of the bridging fuel in the firebox during combustion, losing its insulating effect at that location. The refilling is adapted to reinsulated the firebox with the fuel.

摘要: A method and apparatus for delivering biomass fuel to a structure through an external wall of the structure is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a hopper disposed within a delivery vehicle. The hopper includes an inlet disposed on its top surface to receive biomass fuel and an outlet located proximate the bottom of the hopper to release the fuel by opening a gate valve. A delivery hose is connected to the hopper outlet at one end and is sealably connectable at its other end to an externally accessible coupling disposed on an external wall of the structure to which fuel is to be delivered. The coupling is connected on the interior side of the external wall to a delivery pipe that connects to a fuel bin for storing the biomass fuel. Sensors within the bin can signal the operator when the level of fuel within the bin reaches a preselected level, allowing the operator to stop delivery when the bin is full.

摘要: In the operation of smoking/burning type volume reduction treatment apparatus (1), referring to view (A), charcoal carbonized layer (T2) is spread over powdery ceramic layer (T1) in the state of having negative ion air fed through air supply inlet (H). Further, sawdust layer (T3) is spread thereover, and thereafter treatment subject layer (V) is piled thereon. In a temporary burning region of the carbonized layer (T2), the powdery ceramic layer (T1) exerts not only heat storing action but also heat radiation action. Referring to view (B), the interior of the sawdust layer (T3) is altered into temporary carbonized layer (T3 1) and temporary dried layer (T3 2). As the temporary burning region slowly moves upward, an under side of the treatment subject layer (V) is altered into dried layer (V1) and further, carbonized layer (V2) shown in view (C) is formed. Thereafter, this carbonized layer (V2) catches fire, so that burning region (V3) is formed in layered form in the treatment subject layer (V). Thus, smoking/burning starts. Accordingly, there can be provided a method wherein a burning region is securely formed in the treatment subject within the apparatus (1).

摘要: A waste disposal system for gasification and melting of various waste materials such as solid waste, waste in a solid container, granular waste, and liquid waste, and mixtures thereof. The system includes a reactor vessel which is closed to the atmosphere, and also includes a bottom portion capable of serving as a slag pool. An active feed mechanism eliminates the entry of air from the atmosphere into the vessel and also blocks the expulsion of by product gases into the atmosphere. The feed mechanism includes mechanisms to feed solid waste, waste in a solid container, granular waste and liquid waste into the reactor vessel. A plasma arc torch is located for plasma arc activity within said reactor vessel to produce a high temperature processing zone to gasify or melt solid waste, waste in a solid container, granular waste, and liquid waste and mixtures thereof as such waste is actively fed into the reactor vessel. In preferred embodiments a waste receiving reservoir is located within the vessel and positioned to initially receive and retain waste from the active feed mechanism for thermal decomposition and melting of the waste by the arc torch.

摘要: A hearth particle bed incineration furnace is provided in which the hearth particles form a sloped layer bed which moves in the incinerating furnace without being fluidized. The furnace is structured so that the combustion gas is prevented from flowing upward through the inlet for the materials to be incinerated. The structure for preventing the backflow of the combustion gas includes a sidewall which is connected to the incinerated materials inlet, baffles and a member which restrains the upward backflow of combustion exhaust gas. This restraining member is made up of an air intake opening and the air introduced therein is heated through heat exchange with a combustion gas and introduced into the combustion chamber. This allows the amount of air to be introduced in the combustion chamber to be increased and the backflow of combustion exhaust gas to be reduced or eliminated.
