In one embodiment, a system for inducing swirl in particles may include a supply including a plurality of electrically charged particles, and at least one swirling chamber for creating at least one electrical field therein, which may include an entry path in communication with the supply and an exit path. According to this example embodiment, the plurality of electrically charged particles may flow through the swirling chamber or chambers, causing at least one of the plurality of electrically charged particles to rotate about a radial axis of the swirling chamber as a result of the electrical field.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for the separation of particles from a flow of gas, where both large, heavy and small, light particles can be separated off from the gas by means of the combined effect of an electrostatic attraction force and a centrifugal force in a centrifugal separator (10) of the type that comprises a rotor (14) that has a plurality of adjacent surface elements (16) with intermediate gas flow gaps (48) and that is mounted in such a way that it can rotate in a surrounding casing (12), which casing has an inlet (18) for unclean gas and an outlet (22) for clean gas and an outlet (24) for separated-of f particles. A charging unit (44) ionizes the particles upstream of the rotor (14). An electrical field is generated between adjacent surface elements (16) of the rotor in order to attract the ionized light particles towards a face of the surface elements by means of the electrostatic force. By means of the centrifugal force created by the rotor, the particles that have accumulated on the surface elements are thrown towards the inside of the casing and are led out through the outlet.

The cyclone dust-separating apparatus comprises: a cyclone body; an air intake pipe, through which air flows from outside into the cyclone body; an air exhaust pipe, through which air flows out of the cyclone body; a grounding member installed on the inside surface of the cyclone body; a plurality of discharge electrode members installed on the air exhaust pipe; and a high voltage power source connected to the air exhaust pipe. The air exhaust pipe conducts electricity, and the discharge electrode members are installed on one or more sides of the air exhaust pipe, are needle-shaped, and protrude from the outer surface of the air exhaust pipe so as to form a uniform and stable electrical field.

    摘要: A centrifugal separator has a plurality of substantially planar walls, including a first wall, defining a vortex chamber having an interior gas volume and for establishing at least one gas vortex in the gas volume, and the gas volume has a cross section that is distinctly non-circular, (and preferably quadrate). In addition to conventional outlets the separator includes a gas inlet having at least one elongated jet-defining wall with a free end portion extending into the gas volume a first distance from the first wall, to define a gas jet that extends substantially tangentially to the gas vortex in the gas volume. An insert extends between the jet-defining wall free end portion and the first wall and defines a gas flow direction changing surface. The insert may be substantially solid refractory material, or include a number of cooling fluids circulating tubes, and a gas flow direction changing surface may be substantially planar or curved. The first distance is typically at least 50 mm, but less than 25% of the dimension of the wall perpendicular to the first wall. The jet defining wall and the gas direction changing surface may make an angle .alpha. between 20.degree.-80.degree. and the first distance may be between 0.2-5 times the width of the gas inlet. The height of the gas inlet is at least twice as great as its width.

    摘要: An ion diffuser has a frusto-conical surface made of thin metal in which surface are a plurality of emitter orifices. Around the perimeter of each orifice are a plurality of raised points that are angled toward a stream of dirty gases flowing through each emitter port. Submicron particles are ionized as they pass through the orifices when the metal is energized positively from a high voltage powerpack. A fan, to which are connected filaments, rotates above the frusto-conical surface and the submicron particles are collected by the filaments.
