    Abstract: An electro-kinetic or electro-static apparatus for moving fluid includes an enlogated electrode energizable with respect to at least one other electrode to generate ions and thereby motivate fluid flow there between. A cleaning device is positioned to frictionally engage at least two opposing surfaces of the elongated electrode. The cleaning device is movable along a length of the elongated electrode to thereby remove detrimental material from the at least two opposing surfaces of the elongated electrode. The cleaning device can be substantially off-center relative to the elongated electrode to frictionally bind upon the elongated electrode during movement of the cleaning device.

    Abstract: A small area electrostatic aerosol collector combines electrostatic collection of aerosol particles and electrohydrodynamic spraying of fluid so that a sample collected electrostatically can have fluid applied thereto. The fluid may assist with disaggregation and/or desalinization of biological material collected onto a sample substrate. A controller associated with the collector may control an electrostatic charge device and a spraying device such that the charge device and spraying device may operate in alternating fashion, or the charge device and spraying device may operate simultaneously. Further, mechanical systems are provided, for the disaggregation of particulate clusters collected onto a sample substrate.

    Abstract: An electro-kinetic air mover for creating an airflow using no moving parts. The electro-kinetic air mover includes an ion generator that has an electrode assembly including a first array of emitter electrodes, a second array of collector electrodes, and a high voltage generator. Preferably, a third or leading or focus electrode is located upstream of the first array of emitter electrodes, and/or a trailing electrode is located downstream of the second array of collector electrodes. The device can also include an interstitial electrode located between collector electrodes, an enhanced collector electrode with an integrally formed trailing end, and an enhanced emitter electrode with an enhanced length in order to increase emissivity.

    Abstract: A method for enlarging the particle diameters of sulfuric acid mists in waste gas and collecting the sulfuric acid mists in high efficiency is provided. A process for disposing waste gas containing sulfur oxides that introduces the waste gas in dry type electrostatic precipitator to remove dusts and then introduces the waste gas in a wet desulfurization apparatus to carry out desulfurization, wherein the waste gas temperature of a smoke channel at a more upstream side than the wet desulfurization apparatus is measured, the flow channel length is variable based on the measurement value of the waste gas temperature, the waste gas is flown to a flow channel means that is adjusted at a channel length capable of cooling the waste gas to the dew point of acid by heat release and then, the waste gas is introduced into the wet desulfurization apparatus.
