Still further, the bit comprises a plurality of primary cutter elements mounted to the second primary blade in different radial positions. Moreover, a first primary cutter element of the plurality of primary cutter elements on the first primary blade and a first primary cutter element of the plurality of primary cutter elements on the second primary blade are each positioned in the cone region and are redundant. The shoulder region has a total cutter redundancy percentage that is less than a total cutter redundancy percentage in the cone region.

    摘要: Methods of forming and repairing earth-boring tools include providing wear-resistant material over a temporary displacement member to form a cutting element pocket in a body and a depth-of-cut control feature using the wear-resistant material. In some embodiments, the wear-resistant material may comprise a particle-matrix composite material. For example, a hardfacing material may be built up over a temporary displacement member to form or repair a cutting element pocket and provide a depth-of-cut control feature. Earth-boring tools include a depth-of-cut control feature comprising a wear-resistant material. The depth-of-cut control feature is configured to limit a depth-of-cut of a cutting element secured within a cutting element pocket partially defined by at least one surface of the depth-of-cut control feature. Intermediate structures formed during fabrication of earth-boring tools include a depth-of-cut control feature extending over a temporary displacement member.

In some embodiments, a cutting element for an earth-boring tool may include a diamond table having an indentation in a cutting face thereof and a shaped feature in a substrate at the interface between the diamond table and the substrate, the shaped feature corresponding to the indentation in the cutting face of the diamond table. In further embodiments, a cutting element for an earth-boring tool may include a sacrificial structure positioned within an indentation in a diamond table. In additional embodiments, a method of forming a cutting element may include positioning a sacrificial structure in a mold, positioning a powdered precursor material over the sacrificial structure, and pressing and sintering the powdered precursor material to form a diamond table having an indentation in a cutting face formed by the sacrificial structure.

    摘要: Ultra-hard constructions comprise a sintered diamond-bonded body comprising a matrix of bonded-together diamond grains and a plurality of interstitial regions substantially free of a catalyst material. A metal material comprising a carbide constituent is disposed on a substrate interface surface of the diamond body. A substrate is attached to the diamond-bonded body through a braze joint interposed between the metal material and the substrate. The braze joint is formed from a non-active braze material that reacts with the substrate and metal material. The braze joint is formed at the melting temperature of the non-active braze material in the absence of high-pressure conditions. In an example embodiment, the non-active braze material reacts with the carbide constituent in the metal material. Example materials useful for forming the non-active braze material include those selected from Cu, Ni, Mn, Au, Pd, and combinations and alloys thereof.
