摘要: A curved nozzle for use in a drill bit is disclosed. The curved nozzle includes a flow path that directs drilling fluid towards the face of cutters. The curved nozzle may include a base, neck, and a tip. Flow entering the nozzle, travels along a flow path through the nozzle and out the tip. The flow path may be reduced as it passes through the nozzle. The flow is curved as it flows through the neck and out the tip. The nozzle includes cooperating interior surfaces that guide the flow. The upper interior surface may include two curved zones. The first zone will be a substantially constant radius of curvature. The second zone, extending from the first zone, may be straight.

摘要: A method of forming a hole in a hard ground structure including the step of obtaining a drill-bit with a turning axis having: a central portion and first and second axially spaced ends; and a plurality of protruding blades. Each blade has first and second ends, a first end portion, a second end portion, a middle portion, and a circumferentially facing leading portion. The circumferentially facing leading portion of each blade has at least one discrete hard cutter thereat. The method further includes the step of turning the drill-bit around its axis in a first direction so that the blades are advanced, circumferentially facing leading portion first, while pulling the drill-bit axially, with the first drill-bit end in a leading direction, through the hard ground structure to thereby cause the discrete cutters to cut the hard ground structure.

摘要: The inner bit is provided with: a supply hole which is open at the distal end portion of the inner bit; and a discharge groove which is formed in an outer peripheral surface of the inner bit and extends in the direction of the axial line. The supply hole is provided with: a distal end blow hole which is open in a distal end surface of the distal end portion of the inner bit; and an outer peripheral blow hole which is open in an outer peripheral surface of the distal end portion of the inner bit. An outer peripheral groove via which the outer peripheral blow hole communicates with the discharge groove is formed in the outer peripheral surface of the inner bit. The outer peripheral groove is covered with the ring bit from the outside in a radial direction.

摘要: Method of operating earth-boring tools may involve activating a selectively activatable hydraulic fracturing device secured to the earth-boring tool to impact an underlying earth formation with a fluid from the selectively activatable hydraulic fracturing device. A crack may be at least one of initiated or propagated in a portion of the underlying earth formation utilizing the fluid in response to activation of the selectively activatable hydraulic fracturing device. The selectively activatable hydraulic fracturing device may be subsequently deactivated. Earth-boring tools may include a selectively activatable hydraulic fracturing configured to transition between an activated state in which fluid is permitted to flow through the selectively activatable hydraulic fracturing device to engage with an underlying earth formation and a deactivated state in which fluid does not flow through the selectively activatable hydraulic fracturing device. The selectively activatable hydraulic fracturing device may be configured to at least one of initiate or propagate cracks.
