摘要: A method for treating liquid food products after direct heating comprises a first cooling of the liquid food product occurring on a floor of the infuser vessel up to an outlet opening. A second cooling of the liquid food product occurs in a tubular section connecting directly to the outlet opening. A third cooling of the liquid food product occurs in a housing cover of a pump housing of a centrifugal pump. At least one flushing operation of the pump housing and of an impeller via a rear impeller gap is performed, wherein the at least flushing operation occurs via a front impeller gap located between the housing cover and the impeller. Volume flows of the at least one flushing operation are greater than equalization flows within the pump housing.

摘要: A pump for processing molten metal having an enlarged tubular body which houses a centrifugal lifting pump at its bottom end. The bottom end has a curved shape that aids in the formation and sustainability of: a) a forced vortex; b) a highly forced vortex; and c) a super forced vortex, depending on the application when it which receives the ejected molten metal from the lifting pump's impeller. The lifting pump is controlled to cause the vortex to climb up the inner wall of the body up to and out of an outlet formed in the upper end of the body. A recirculation centrifugal pump is mounted coaxially to and rotates with the lifting impeller.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a molten metal pump comprising an elongated pumping chamber tube with a base end and an open top end. A shaft extends into the tube and rotates an impeller therein, the impeller rotates proximate the base end. The tube has a diameter at least 1.1 times the diameter of the impeller. The pumping chamber tube preferably has a length at least three times the height of the impeller. The base end includes an inlet and the top end includes a tangential outlet. Rotation of the impeller draws molten metal into the pumping chamber and creates a rotating equilibrium vortex that rises up the walls of the pumping chamber. The rotating vortex adjacent the top end exists the device cia the tangential outlet.

摘要: An insert is provided for attachment to the inlet or nose of a pitot tube to withstand the wear and damage imposed on the inlet of the pitot tube by high velocity and high pressure fluid moving through the rotary casing and into the pitot tube. The insert reduces the amount of damage normally done to the pitot tube under normal operating conditions thereby extending the life of the pitot tube. When worn or damaged, only the insert needs to be replaced rather than the entire pitot tube as is done in conventional systems. The insert permits the machining of the insert to meet the specifications of a particular application, thereby providing the ability to control pump performance over a wider range of operational conditions.

摘要: A drainage pump has a pump body, a vane, a ring, and a circumferential wall. The pump has a cylindrical small vane pump chamber and a large vane pump chamber extending from and communicating with the small vane pump chamber. A suction inlet communicates with the small vane pump chamber and a discharge outlet communicates with the large vane pump chamber. A chamber slope portion is formed between the small vane pump chamber and the large vane pump chamber. The vane is adapted to be driven by a motor and is rotatably mounted to the pump body. The vane includes a large vane portion received in the large vane pump chamber and a small vane portion extending from the large vane and received in the small vane pump chamber. The small vane portion and the large vane portion rotate together when driven by the motor. A vane slope portion is formed between the large vane portion and the small vane portion. The ring has a central opening, positioned between the large vane portion and the small vane portion. The small vane portion extends through the central opening. The circumferential wall surrounds the periphery of the large vane portion and extends upwardly from the ring. The ring covers the lower end of the large vane portion. The circumferential wall collides against any drainage water returning from the discharge outlet into the pump body to absorb shock and prevent the drainage water from returning directly to the pump body from the discharge outlet.

摘要: For a pump that produces a negative pressure in a pump casing, a shaft seal system comprises a positive flow of air into the seal system to flow about shaft seals to counteract the negative pressure otherwise being communicated thereto from within the pump casing. The seals engage the rotating shaft and a lubrication passageway supplies lubricant to the shaft seals engaging the rotating shaft, which is driving the rotor. Preferably, no air flows through the seal system when the rotor shaft is stationary and a small air flow, e.g., 0.3 c.f.m. to 1 c.f.m., flows through the shaft seal when the shaft is rotating. This flow rate is preferably monitored.

摘要: A pump for use in a bath of reactive molten metal such as zinc has a graphite rotor, driven at constant speed, and capable of pumping molten metal at selective rates from the bath. The pump includes an internal delivery flow path and protected drive shaft, so that the liquid metal of the bath is not turbulated by the rotating shaft, and the temperature of the metal within the pump, during semi-quiescent periods is maintained substantially constant. The pump has a robust structure and yet can handle rates as low as 10 to 15 pounds per minute, in contrast to usual types of pumps that require pumping about 80 pounds per minute, and being speed controlled, are less accurate in their delivery rates. An adjustable control for regulating flow rate during operation also is provided.

摘要: This invention relates to a screen separator for separating metal adsorbent particles from a pulp and includes a screen separator for separating metal adsorbent particles from a pulp including an open topped and closed bottom cylindrical screen for axially vertical location, in use, in a tank containing pulp with the open top of the screen at or adjacent the full pulp surface level in the tank, an impeller which is located in the screen with its axis of rotation vertical, drive means, and a drive shaft connecting the drive means to the impeller with the impeller being adapted to drive pulp in the screen upwardly to a level above the surface level of the full pulp level in the tank when the impeller is rotated in the screen. The invention further extends to a method of separating the particles from the pulp by means of the separator and to a metal recover process which employs the separation method.

摘要: Lubrication system for a centrifugal pump having a bearing mounted around a rotatable vertical shaft. The lubrication system includes a reservoir for holding a quantity of lubricant, structure for withdrawing lubricant from the reservoir, a stator, and a passageway for communicating lubricant from the reservoir to the bearing. The withdrawing structure includes a rotor connected to the vertical shaft. The stator encircles the rotor with the rotor and stator extending axially into the reservoir. The stator minimizes vortexing and churning of the lubricant in the reservoir during rotation of the rotor. Dynamic seals are not necessary with the lubrication system. Accordingly, concern of heat generation and wear associated with dynamic seals has been eliminated.
