Abstract: An aircraft overhead storage bin assembly that includes a housing, a door pivotably attached to the housing and a bucket pivotably connected to the housing that cooperates with the housing to define a bin interior. The housing includes a front, a back, and an upper storage section defined therein. The upper storage section includes an upper storage section opening that communicates the upper storage section with an exterior of the housing. The door pivotably attached to the housing and is movable between an open and a closed position. In the closed position the door closes the upper storage section opening. The bucket is positioned below the upper storage section and is pivotable with respect to the housing between an open position and a closed position.

Abstract: A method of pivoting an aircraft storage bin that includes a bucket that pivots with respect to an upper housing. The method includes pivoting the bucket from a closed position to an intermediate position and placing weight that exceeds a predetermined weight threshold in the bucket, thereby causing the bucket to move to an open position. Movement of the bucket to the open position causes a lift assist unit to activate. A first end of the lift assist unit is connected to the bucket and a second end of the lift assist unit is connected to the upper housing. The method also includes pivoting the bucket from the open position to the closed position. The lift assist unit provides assistance as the bucket is pivoting from the open position to the closed position.

Abstract: A module for mounting within a ceiling panel assembly. The module includes an upper mounting frame that includes a main body portion that defines a central opening, a lower mounting frame that is at least partially received in the central opening of the upper mounting frame, and a latch assembly. Abstract: A fastener system that includes a female fastener assembly with a housing having a channel defined therein and a switch member movable within the channel between removing and fastening positions. The switch member includes a receiver portion having a post opening defined therein and a switch portion. The housing includes a lower opening. The post opening includes a removing portion that is aligned with the lower opening when the switch member is in the removing position and a fastening portion that is aligned with the post opening when the switch member is in the fastening position. The system also includes a male fastener assembly having a post with a slot therein. The post is received through the lower opening in the housing and the post opening so that the slot is aligned with the channel. The slot receives a portion of the receiver portion when the switch member is in the fastening position.
