Abstract:
A method refreshes an injection law of a fuel injector to be tested in an injection system. The method comprises steps of establishing a desired fuel quantity for the fuel injector to be tested, performing at least one first measurement opening of the fuel injector to be tested in a test actuation time, determining a pressure drop in a common rail during the first measurement opening of the fuel injector to be tested, determining a first fuel quantity that is fed during the first measurement opening, calculating a second fuel quantity as a difference between the desired fuel quantity and the first fuel quantity, and performing a second completion opening of the fuel injector to be tested for feeding the second fuel quantity needed to reach the desired fuel quantity.
Abstract:
A method performs a diagnosis of a lambda sensor of a “UEGO” type of an exhaust system for an internal-combustion engine. The lambda sensor includes a series of pins. The diagnosis method comprises steps of: heating the lambda sensor to cause the lambda sensor to reach an inner temperature that is higher than about 600° C.; polarizing a first one of the pins by connecting the first pin to a supply voltage through a first limiting resistance; measuring a voltage of all of the pins while the first pin is connected to the supply voltage; and diagnosing a presence of a short circuit to an electrical ground if the voltage of at least one of the pins is lower than a predetermined threshold. A control unit performs the diagnosis.
Abstract:
A method for controlling electromagnetic actuators for operating induction and exhaust valves in internal combustion engines where one actuator, connected to a control unit, is coupled to a respective valve having a real position and includes a movable element magnetically driven by means of a resultant force to control the movement of the said valve between a closure position and a fully open position, the control unit is further connected to a piloting unit and includes a supervision block, an open loop control block, a closed loop control block and a selector block commanded by a switching signal generated by the supervision block. The method includes the steps of: operating in an open loop control mode of the real position; operating in a closed loop control mode of the real position; and alternatively selecting the open loop control mode and the closed loop control mode.
Abstract:
A method for controlling the lateral movement of a terrestrial vehicle arranged to track a predetermined trajectory, particularly in an assisted driving or autonomous driving scenario, comprising: determining a lateral offset of the vehicle center of mass from the predetermined trajectory; determining a look-ahead error defined as a distance of a virtual look-ahead position of the vehicle center of mass from the predetermined trajectory; and controlling the steering angle of the vehicle so as to also minimize the lateral offset and the first derivative of said look-ahead error over time.
Abstract:
A device to supply an internal combustion engine with water comprising one single tank of an exhaust system provided with exhaust gas after-treatment; the tank is divided, on the inside, into a first powder urea storage area and a second water collecting area, and wherein the powder urea and the water are mixed inside the tank so as to obtain a water solution of urea with a variable concentration, the device comprises at least one second electromagnetic injector, which is designed to inject water into the internal combustion engine, and a second pumping device, which is drowned inside the tank and draws from the second water collecting area in order to supply water under pressure to said at least one second electromagnetic injector.
Abstract:
A method to manufacture a throttle valve for an internal combustion engine comprising a valve body having a seat and a tube for the passage of conditioning fluid; an actuating device, which controls the rotation of a throttle plate; and a substantially uniform layer of a structural and heat-conducting resin interposed between the seat and the tube and applied on the entire available surface of the seat; the method comprising the steps of manufacturing the valve body provided with the seat by causing a first metal material to undergo a die casting process; applying a trace of the structural and thermosetting resin on the bottom of the seat; and inserting the tube into the seat so as to obtain a substantially uniform layer of the structural and thermosetting resin, which is interposed between the seat and the tube.
Abstract:
A pointer device for an indicator instrument, in particular for a vehicle, is provided with a light-guide body defined by a single piece, which, in use, receives light from a light source and has a hub and a pointer radially protruding from the hub; the hub has a surface covered by a shield and a light transmission portion, which, on the opposite side, ends with at least one light emission area; the device is provided with a cap defined by a single piece, which is separate from said light-guide body and has an intermediate portion and a lateral portion arranged in an inner and outer radial position, respectively, relative to the light transmission portion; the cap has at least one through opening aligned with the light emission area and connection portions extending radially and joining the intermediate portion to the lateral portion.
Abstract:
A throttle body or actuator for an engine, comprising a main body which defines at least one supply duct having a through lumen for a gas mixture, a choke valve placed inside said supply duct so as to modify said through lumen. The choke valve is provided with an occluding body connected to a control shaft, at least partially housed in a seat in the main body. The control shaft, inside the seat and on the side of the occluding body, is provided with a first gasket adapted to prevent the penetration of dirt and gas from the supply duct. Downstream of the first gasket, on the side of the control shaft, at least one vent is provided, adapted to allow the expulsion, outside the seat, of any gas which has leaked through the first gasket.
