A display substrate, a method of fabricating the same, and a liquid crystal display apparatus having the same. The display substrate includes a storage electrode extending over first and second areas formed on a substrate, a insulating layer pattern formed on the storage electrode, and first and second pixel electrodes formed on the insulating layer pattern. At least one of the first and second pixel electrodes has at least one recess. The insulating layer pattern has first and second openings formed in the first and second areas corresponding to the storage electrode. Accordingly, electric short circuits between the first and second pixel electrodes is prevented due to the recess or the openings during the manufacturing process for the first and second pixel electrodes.

A cleaner having a brush includes a suction motor mounted in a main body, and generating a suction force; a filter for collecting dust or filth sucked by the suction force generated at the suction motor; a suction head connected with the filter by a suction pipe, and having an inlet through which dust and filth on a floor are sucked; and a brush rotatably mounted at an inside of the suction head. The inlet is partitioned off into a first section and a second section by a belt cover for protecting a belt winding around the brush, and a flow passage unit is formed at the brush so that air can flow between the first and second sections. Accordingly, air can flow smoothly at a portion, which is blocked by the belt cover, and thus cleaning performance can be improved.

A method of manufacturing a semiconductor device may involve providing a first insulation pattern on a substrate including first and second regions. The first insulation pattern may include a first contact hole for exposing the first region. A spacer may be provided on a sidewall of the first insulation pattern. A conductive pattern may be provided in the first contact hole such that a top surface of the conductive pattern is lower than a top surface of the first insulation pattern. A second insulation pattern may be provided on the conductive pattern. The first insulation pattern may be etched using the second insulation pattern and the spacer as a self-aligning mask to form a second contact hole for exposing the second region. A wring may be provided in the second contact hole.
Abstract:
A flat-type fluorescent lamp includes a lamp body having a plurality of discharge spaces emitting a light, first and second external electrodes formed on upper and lower faces of the lamp body, respectively, a conductive clip electrically connecting the first and second external electrodes, and an insulating member covering and insulating the conductive clip. The conductive clip includes a first contact portion contacting the first external electrode, a second contact portion contacting the second external electrode, and a body portion connecting the first and second contact portions. The insulating member includes a recess into which the body portion is inserted. Thus, an electrical defect such as arc discharge between the receiving container and the external conductors may be prevented.
Abstract:
A position estimating method and apparatus are disclosed that determine an angle of arrival of a signal received from a terminal; determine a distance of the terminal, using an arrival time difference between the arrival time of the signal and a reference time; and determine a position of the terminal based on the determined angle of arrival and distance.
Abstract:
A backlight assembly includes a bottom chassis, a planar fluorescent lamp, a mold and an inverter. The bottom chassis includes a bottom portion and a side portion. The planar fluorescent lamp generates planar-light. The bottom chassis receives the planar fluorescent lamp. The mold fixes the planar fluorescent lamp such that a gap is generated between a portion of the mold and the planar fluorescent lamp to absorb impact between the mold and the planar fluorescent lamp. The inverter generates discharge voltages to drive the planar fluorescent lamp.

A thermo-optic switch using a small drive power while exhibiting a reduction in the coupling loss caused by the coupling to optical fibers and a switch speed of several hundred microseconds or less. A method for manufacturing the thermo-optic switch and a method for changing an optical line switching using the thermo-optic switch are also disclosed. The thermo-optic switch includes a substrate having etched portions at regions respectively corresponding to input and output terminals of the thermo-optic switch, a lower clad layer formed over the substrate, the lower clad layer having an input taper formed at the region corresponding to the input terminal and adapted to convert a circular mode, input from an optical fiber connected to the input terminal, into an oval mode having a rib shape, and an output taper formed at the region corresponding to the output terminal and adapted to convert the oval mode into a circular mode allowed to be input to an optical fiber connected to the output terminal, a core layer formed over the lower clad layer and provided with branched waveguides having a rib structure, the branched waveguides selectively receiving the oval mode from the input taper and outputting the received oval mode to the output taper, an upper clad layer formed over the core layer, and switching electrodes formed on the upper clad layer and selectively activated to apply heat to an associated one of the branched waveguides in such a fashion that an effective refractive index difference occurs between the branched waveguides, thereby causing the branched waveguides to selectively receive the oval mode from the input taper.
