Abstract: Aspects herein relate to wireless devices, circuits, and methods for determining a PRACH resource mapping comprising a starting symbol position within a reference slot, wherein the starting symbol position is determined based, at least in part, on a subcarrier spacing configuration of PRACH resources of a wireless network that a wireless device is operating on; and using the radio to transmit a RACH preamble and an associated RA-RNTI via the determined PRACH resource mapping. Further aspects herein relate to devices, circuits, and methods for using a modified RA-RNTI for transmission or reception of data over a wireless network, wherein the wireless network has a subcarrier spacing configuration of PRACH resources, wherein a size of the subcarrier spacing configuration of the PRACH resources causes out-of-range RA-RNTI values to be calculated using a legacy RA-RNTI equation in an unmodified form, wherein the range of permissible RA-RNTI values is from 0 to 216−1.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for handling different timing advance (TA) adjustment delays corresponding to different transmission time intervals (TTIs) from different serving cells under carrier aggregation or dual connectivity. A user equipment (UE) selects and implements one TA adjustment delay even if two or more serving cells transmit with different TTIs. In one embodiment, the UE uses a predetermined TA adjustment delay for each of a plurality of TA commands received from serving cells with different TTI lengths. In another embodiment, the UE uses a TA adjustment delay that is a maximum value of the TA adjustment delays for the TTIs from the different serving cells.

Abstract: The implementations disclosed provide apparatus, systems, and methods for downlink control information (DCI) enhancement for a reduced-complexity new radio (NR) wireless device. The wireless device includes one or more processors configured to transmit a type of the wireless device to a base station communicatively coupled to the wireless device. A format of the DCI is received from the base station. The DCI includes multiple bit strings indicating a schedule of a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) or a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH). The format specifies a respective number of bits for each bit string. The format is defined by the base station based on the type of the wireless device. The DCI is received from the base station using a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH). The multiple bit strings are extracted from the DCI based on the format of the DCI.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) device is configured for performing a signal measurement for wireless communication in a new radio (NR) network. The UE is configured to determine a frequency range (FR) of a serving cell configured to send a signal that is measured by the UE using a signal measurement. The UE configures a measurement gap (MG) pattern to perform the signal measurement. Configuring the measurement gap includes determining that the frequency range of the serving cell includes frequencies of a second frequency range (FR2), determining that a measurement object (MO) configuration for the FR2 is available, setting a measurement gap repetition periodicity (MGRP) value for the signal measurement, and setting a measurement gap length (MGL) value for the signal measurement. The UE performs a signal measurement using the MGRP value and the MGL value.

Abstract: User equipment (UE) includes processing circuitry coupled to memory. To configure the UE for active bandwidth part (BWP) switching, the processing circuitry is to decode RRC signaling configuring a plurality of BWPs for the UE. The RRC signaling further includes an indicator for an initial BWP of the plurality of BWPs for initial use by the UE as an active BWP. DCI received on a PDCCH is decoded, which includes a BWP indicator for switching the active BWP from the initial BWP to another BWP of the plurality of BWPs. RF and baseband parameters to switch the active BWP from the initial BWP to the another BWP are reconfigured. Reconfiguring the RF and baseband parameters cause an interruption of one or more slots of a serving cell of the UE. A starting time of the interruption is within a time duration of a BWP switching delay supported by the UE.

Abstract: The implementations disclosed provide apparatus, systems, and methods for channel structure construction for a two-step random access channel (RACH) using a new radio (NR) user equipment (UE) wireless device. The wireless device includes one or more computer processors configured to generate a physical RACH (PRACH) preamble mapped to a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) resource unit. The PRACH preamble is associated with a preamble group indicating a configuration of the PUSCH. The preamble group has a size indicated by radio resource control (RRC) signaling performed by the wireless device. A message is encoded including the PRACH preamble and a payload carried by the PUSCH. The configuration of the PUSCH includes parameters for decoding the message. The wireless device couples communicatively to a base station using the PUSCH. The message is transmitted to the base station. The base station decodes the message based on the parameters of the PUSCH configuration.

Abstract: Techniques described herein allow for mobile positioning (i.e., the determination of the position of the UE) to be performed when the UE is in Idle mode. In some implementations, assistance data, that is used by the UE as part of the mobile positioning procedure, may be broadcast to the UE or transmitted to the UE within paging messages. The assistance data can potentially be sent to the UE in a number of time slots. In some implementations, the UE may perform measurements needed for mobile positioning only within discontinuous reception (DRX) occasions. Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE may perform measurements needed for mobile positioning outside of DRX occasions.
