Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards obtaining communication-related operating information of a user equipment, such as via a terminal adapter to a terminal equipment. Communication-related operating information can include component carrier information, frequency band information, MIMO layer information, modulation information, and active user plane (uplink and downlink) information. In one aspect, a terminal equipment can send a communication command (e.g., an AT command) to a terminal adapter requesting return of frequency-related operating information and/or active user plane information, and receive the requested information from the terminal adapter. The terminal equipment provides access to the received information to a program running on the terminal equipment.

Abstract: Facilitating conditional fast return to stand alone advanced networks after voice fall back with network congestion awareness is provided herein. Operations of a system can include controlling a first communication for a user equipment based on a connection request that comprises an indication of a fall back procedure. The operations can also include, based on a determination that the first communication has completed at the user equipment, releasing a first control of the user equipment. Further, the operations can include delaying a redirection of the user equipment to the network equipment for a second control of a second communication scheduled to occur at the user equipment. Delaying of the redirection is based on a determined network congestion level applicable to the communication network being determined to be at most a defined network congestion level.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject matter described herein are directed towards indicating to a communications network the bandwidth capability data of a user equipment (mobile) device. This allows distinguishing between legacy user equipment that does not support larger bandwidths from newer user equipment that does. A network can thus limit the bandwidth via one of its supported bandwidth parts to a user equipment's bandwidth capability data, such as the maximum supported static bandwidth part of the legacy user equipment. At the same time, larger bandwidths can be assigned to user equipment devices capable of supporting larger bandwidths. Information elements can be used to communicate the bandwidth data from the user equipment to the network, e.g., during initial communications or as requested by the network. Once obtained, the bandwidth data of a user equipment device can be maintained by the network and forwarded to a target cells as part of cell handovers.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, transmitting a first value for a first parameter to a first user equipment, wherein the first parameter pertains to a first number of scans to be performed by the first user equipment to detect a first signal having a first frequency within a first frequency band as part of a first scanning procedure, and transmitting a second value for a second parameter to the first user equipment, wherein the second parameter pertains to a first amount of time that the first user equipment is to wait between the first scanning procedure and a second scanning procedure, the second scanning procedure pertaining to detection of the first signal having the first frequency within the first frequency band. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: An indicator (e.g., “5G+” or “5G”) displayed on a mobile device is based on whether the mobile device is connected in or (if idle) has the potential of connecting in a high channel bandwidth frequency band (e.g., n77 or mmWave). An accurate indication is displayed when the mobile device is connected, or when idle and the aggregated bandwidth is not directly known, such as when anchored to a lower bandwidth cell. When in idle mode, the mobile device can maintain cell identifiers (“fingerprints”) and determine a location estimated to be within a high bandwidth cell, to thereby determine potential high bandwidth operation (e.g., and display 5G+) when connected. When in the idle mode, the mobile device can evaluate neighbor cells including if within a high channel bandwidth cell's coverage to decide whether to select “5G+” or “5G” for display to indicate the potential high bandwidth operation (or not) when connected.

Abstract: Systems may provide feedback that may include antenna selection or mobile device configuration. Antennas may be automatically configured throughout the device or the orientation or location of the mobile device may be altered to increase performance. Historical performance information of the mobile device may be maintained in order to determine proactive manipulations of the mobile device. In addition, multiple mobile devices may cooperatively determine the orientation or location that may increase performance.

Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed towards avoiding a misconfiguration that uses a Long Term Evolution (LTE) and new radio dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) carrier as an LTE carrier and new radio primary secondary cell carrier concurrently for a dual connectivity mobile device. Network equipment can detect the misconfiguration and prevent its usage, or if already configured, deconfigure the LTE DSS secondary cell during setup of a dual connectivity mobile device. Alternatively a dual connectivity mobile device can detect the misconfiguration and notify the network to terminate one of the carriers. Information regarding the misconfiguration can be saved in the mobile device to proactively avoid the dual misconfiguration going forward. Such information can be communicated to other mobile devices, as well as the network.

Abstract: Wireless network operations can choose a long-term evolution (LTE) and 5G new radio (NR) dual connectivity deployment architecture using LTE as the anchor radio access network (RAN) node and adding mmWave NR as a secondary node when available. However, dual LTE/NR radios can consume more power and contribute more heat, thus degrading performance of radio frequency components. The overheating can be addressed by the user equipment (UE) sending an information message to indicate areas in which it requests to operate with reduced capability. Consequently, the network can determine whether to grant the request, or the UE can switch between NR to LTE depending on NR downlink channel quality.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining a reference signal, power information regarding the reference signal, and maximum power threshold for the communication device from a base station over a communication network. Further embodiments can include measuring a power of reference signal obtained from the base station resulting in a measure power, and determining a path loss between the base station and the communication device based on the measured power. Additional embodiments can include adjusting the antenna array to generate a coarse power adjustment for the communication device based on the path loss and the maximum power threshold, and providing a transmission signal to the base station according to the coarse power adjustment over the communication network. Other embodiments are disclosed.
