    摘要: An apparatus and method for enabling the transfer of a fluid to a web material, the apparatus comprising a fluid transfer component having a first surface, a second surface, and a non-random pattern of distinct pores. The pores connect the first surface and the second surface and are disposed at preselected locations to provide a desired pattern of permeability. The apparatus also comprises a fluid receiving component comprising a fluid receiving surface, a fluid supply adapted to provide a fluid in contact with the first surface of the fluid transfer component, and a fluid motivating component adapted to facilitate transport of the fluid from the first surface through the pores to the second surface. The method comprises steps of providing the apparatus, motivating a fluid through the pores and bringing the fluid receiving component into contact with the motivated fluid.

    摘要: A winder for winding a web material into rolls is disclosed and claimed. The winder is provided with a winding spindle that is rotatably driven about an axis generally parallel to the cross-machine direction of the web material. The web material is disposed about the winding spindle when the web material is proximate thereto. The winder is also provided with a contact roll disposed adjacent, and contacting a portion of the web material being disposed about, the winding spindle. Each of the winding spindle and the contact roll are capable of cooperative engagement when the web material is disposed therebetween. Both the winding spindle and the contact roll are operatively disposed upon a winding turret. The contact roll is adjustable relative to the winding spindle when the web material is disposed upon the winding spindle.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an apparatus for producing a deep-nested embossed paper product comprising two embossing cylinders, each cylinder having a plurality of protrusions on its surface. The protrusions on each cylinder are disposed in a non-random pattern where the respective non-random patterns are coordinated to each other. The two embossing cylinders are aligned such that the respective coordinated non-random pattern of protrusions nest together such that the protrusions engage each other to a depth of greater than about 1.016 mm. The protrusions each comprise a top plane and sidewalls, with the top plane and sidewalls meeting at a protrusion corner. The protrusion corners of the protrusions of the embossing cylinders of the apparatus of the present invention have a radius of curvature ranging from about 0.076 mm to about 1.778 mm.

The turret assembly supports rotatably driven mandrels for engaging hollow cores upon which a paper web is wound. Each mandrel is driven in a closed mandrel path, which can be non-circular. The core loading apparatus conveys cores onto the mandrels during movement of the mandrels along the core loading segment of the closed mandrel path, and the core stripping apparatus removes each web wound core from its respective mandrel during movement of the mandrel along the core stripping segment of the closed mandrel path. The turret assembly can be rotated continuously, and the sheet count per wound log can be changed as the turret assembly is rotating. The apparatus can also include a mandrel having a deformable core engaging member.
