Abstract: A long-life aroma-generating miniature capsule attachable to the surface of an incandescent light bulb to be activated by heat emanating therefrom. The capsule is constituted by a flexible pad of porous material impregnated with a volatile liquid fragrance, the pad being sandwiched between base and cover plies formed of a metal foil-plastic laminate peripherally joined together to create an envelope whose cavity is occupied by the pad. The cover ply has a vent hole therein, and the outer surface of the base ply is coated with a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive, whereby the capsule may be conformed and adhered to the contoured surface of the light bulb. The adhered capsule is in heat transfer relation to the bulb, as a consequence of which the liquid impregnant is volatilized to produce an aromatic vapor that is discharged through the vent hole. The metal foil in the envelope acts as a heat radiator to dissipate the heat transferred thereto to a degree reducing the rate of volatilization to a level at which the capsule remains effective as an aroma generator for a prolonged period before the liquid is exhausted.

Abstract: A player for a multi-aroma cartridge constituted by a planar array of like frame assemblies held within a multi-section framework, each assembly being formed by a pad of absorbent material sandwiched between a pair of frames whose margins are joined together to define a central zone exposing the pad. The pad of each assembly is impregnated with a liquid fragrance that differs from those of the others. When the cartridge is inserted in a slot in the player case, it lies over a complementary honeycomb, each of whose cells is then in registration with a respective assembly. The cells are provided with individual electric heaters such that when a selected cell heater is energized, it heats the air in the cell to produce a positive pressure therein that acts to force the heated air through the zone to volatilize the liquid fragrance, the resultant aromatic vapor being discharged into the atmosphere through vents in the case. The selection of aromas to be played may be effected manually or it may be synchronized to follow the scenes of a video tape or movie film presentation.

Abstract: An aroma generator that is automatically activated when one turns on an electric light bulb in the room in which the generator is installed, the generator then functioning to discharge an air current into the room conveying an aromatic vapor which modifies the prevailing atmosphere. Included in the generator is a motor-driven fan that forces air through an air permeable cartridge containing an aroma supply, the motor being powered by a solar cell assembly mounted adjacent the bulb. The arrangement is such that when the bulb is switched on, the resultant cell output is sufficient to power the motor and activate the generator, the cell output, in response to ambient light being insufficient for this purpose, whereby the operation of the generator is coordinated with that of the bulb without any wire connection therebetween.

Abstract: A night light assembly which plugs directly into an electrical wall outlet to provide low level illumination while at the same time generating an aromatic vapor whose odor is thematically related to a replaceable picture slide incorporated in the assembly and illuminated thereby. The assembly includes a shell supported by a plug projecting from its rear and insertable into the wall outlet. Housed in the shell is a low-wattage bulb, the shell being covered by a removable frame within which is nested the picture slide to be illuminated. Coated on the rear face of the slide is a translucent layer having a volatile aromatic liquid dispersed therein. The shell is vented, and as the air in the shell is heated and expanded by heat arising from the bulb, a convection current is produced which passes across the slide layer to volatilize the liquid, thereby creating an aromatic vapor which is discharged through the vent into the atmosphere.

Abstract: An aromatic liquid dispenser assembly in which a spray can having a depressible actuating pin projecting from the upper end thereof is held by a fixture in an upright position against a wall, the fixture and the can being disposed within and concealed by a cover plate pivoted on the fixture and having a rocker formation. The plate is operatively linked to the pin, whereby when it is rocked, it acts to depress the pin to produce an aromatic liquid spray that is discharged through openings in the cover plate. The wall-mounted assembly simulates the appearance of a conventional light switch and is operated in a similar manner, thereby disguising the nature and purpose of the dispenser and making operation there possible at any time without social embarrassment.

Abstract: A toy cableway assembly in which an endless cable is strung over pulley wheels which are rotatable on standards that are detachably mounted on a vertical wall. The standards project laterally from the wall at selected sites therein to determine the travel pattern of the cable which rides in a plane parallel to the wall surface. Abstract: A game or puzzle for pre-school children which exploits both the olfactory and visual senses. The game is formed by a playing board having printed thereon at distinct positions pictures of different odoriferous objects such as fruits having characteristic smells. Superimposed on each pictured object is an identifier constituted by a major circle and a minor circle concentric therewith, the circles being radially divided into colored segments. Each identifier has a distinctive color pattern that differs from every other identifier. The periphery of the minor circle is scored to define a punchout disc, the surface of which is coated with a myriad of minute, rupturable capsules containing an odor-producing substance whose smell is the characteristic odor of the related object. The discs are removed from the playing board to create sockets therein, each of which is surrounded by a major circle ring whose color pattern matches that of the removed disc. The group of discs serve as the play elements of the game, the player being required to select a play element and to scratch and smell its surface. He then places the element in the ring socket of the pictured object which he believes gives off the same odor. The correctness of his choice is confirmed if there is a match between the color pattern of the element and that of the socket ring.

Abstract: An aroma-dispensing cartridge and holder assembly for installation in an automobile interior or other location for charging the atmosphere thereof with a pleasing or stimulating fragrance. The holder is in the form of a receptacle that is attachable to the underside of an automobile dashboard, with its open mouth facing the front seat of the vehicle. The cartridge is constituted by a bottle which is receivable in the holder and is filled with a liquid scent, the bottle being closed by a stopper having a suction pump supported thereon. The pump includes a flexible pipe extending into the bottle to draw liquid therefrom and a spring-biased hollow plunger coupled to the pipe, the free end of the plunger projecting beyond the mouth of the holder and being coupled to an actuator head. The hollow plunger communicates with an internal head chamber occupied by an absorptive pad. Pressing in the head causes the plunger to make a forward stroke, thereby drawing liquid from the bottle and passing it through the plunger to spray the absorptive pad in the head. When the head is released, the plunger, under the action of its spring, makes a reverse stroke to return the head to its normal position. The internal chamber in the head is vented to emit an aroma from the liquid-permeated pad. The cartridge is replaceable, so that by providing a set of cartridges each having a different aroma, a user may select an aroma which suits his taste or other requirements.

Abstract: A device and method for treating disease involves inserting a scope into a patient's body, the scope having a light source, a camera and a cartridge connected thereto. The cartridge has two chambers separated by membrane, a first one of the chambers containing a virus, and a second one of the chambers being connected to a plurality of microneedles configured for extending into the patient's tissue upon insertion of the scope. Cells from the patient are removed via suction from the microneedles and are deposited in the second chambers. The membrane is then broken to mix the virus with the cells to infect the cells, and the infected cells are then transported back into the patient to treat the disease.
