摘要： A device for colonic lavage has a tubular body (10) having a forward portion (12) and a rearward portion (14). An opening (16) is provided at the front end of the forward portion (12). A side tube (18) includes an outlet (20), thereby defining a continuous passage (22) from the opening (16) to the outlet (20). A port (24) is located at the other end of the tubular body (10) and incorporates a seal (28) having a free internal dimension (I) less than the minimum cross-sectional dimension (M) of the passage (22). The junction (17) between the forward portion and the side tube (18) is flexible. A discharge tube (32) extends from the outlet (20) to a sealable container. In use, the forward portion (12) of the tubular body (10) is inserted into the bowel of a patient. A hose (26) is inserted into the port (24) to extend through the tubular body (10) and through the opening (16) into the colon of the patient. Irrigation fluid is passed through the hose (26) to cleanse obstructed fecal matter from the colon. Cleansed fecal matter is discharged from the tubular body through the outlet (20) and the discharge tube to the container (40). The hose (26) is advanced through the device further into the colon as obstructed fecal matter is cleansed therefrom.

摘要： A threaded jar funnel for easy pouring of material into a jar, without leakage or spillage, has an upper part, with upper and lower conical segments, and a lower cylindrical part having threads on the inside. The upper conical segment of the upper part has a small angle to the vertical and the lower conical segment has a larger angle to the vertical than the upper conical segment. The upper conical segment merges into the lower conical segment to provide an aesthetically pleasing appearance, larger funnel capacity and smoother flow of contents into a jar coupled to the funnel. The lower cylindrical threaded part has a rim, which provides a tight seal when the funnel is coupled to a jar.

摘要： An apparatus is provided for carrying and supporting several golf clubs. A plurality of parallel channels are arranged to face in a common direction. Preferably, the channels are made of a resilient material, and at least one portion of each of the channels is smaller than the diameter of a golf club shaft. When the shaft is inserted into one of the channels by forcing the channel to flex open slightly to admit the shaft, the channel then closes to hold the shaft in place inside the channel. A hook is included for hanging the device over a partition inside a golf bag. The hook further includes a spike pivotally attached to the device such that with the channels facing generally upwardly, the spike may be rotated into a position to be pushed into the ground for securing the device on the ground. In this way the golf club shafts are supported above the ground. Additionally, the spike is rotatable to a position parallel to the channels for storage of the device inside the golf bag.

摘要： A threshold comparator counts the instances when an alternating periodic signal crosses a level. To prevent false counts due to fluctuations in supply and ground potentials, a dual threshold comparator is constituted by a first inverter and a second inverter receiving the signal to be detected through a capacitor. The connected inputs of these inverters are biased by a source of bias voltage (Vbias) provided by a third inverter, the output of which is looped to the input. The geometries of the transistors of these three inverters are chosen as follows: the ratio between the geometries of the two transistors of the first inverter is slightly different from the corresponding ratio for the second inverter, and the ratio for the third inverter is in between the first two ratios. This makes it possible to have two change-over thresholds which are close to each other and make the comparator immune to noise.

摘要： A process for greatly improving the yields of cephalosporin nucleus produced by fermentation is described. Cephalosporin C-producing microorganisms are fermented in the presence of an acetylesterase enzyme so that cephalosporin C formed is immediately converted into desacetyl cephalosporin C before any non-enzymic degradation occurs. Fermentation to produce desacetyl cephalosporin C enables yield increases of cephalosporin nucleus of about 40% to be realized, and greater increases are possible if the fermentation is extended. The preferred cephalosporin C-producing organism is Acremonium chrysogenum, and mutants thereof that are capable of producing esterases in situ. Alternatively, esterases obtained from a variety of other sources may be added or formed in situ, for example from a strain of Rhodosporidium.

摘要： The invention provides bleaching and detergent compositions containing a diacyl peroxide of general formula ROOR.sup.1 in which R represents a phthaloyl radical and R.sup.1 a radical such that ROOR.sup.1, ROOR and R.sup.1 OOR.sup.1 are all soluble in mildly alkaline aqueous solutions. The compositions, optionally containing a persalt such as sodium perborate, preferably in a mole ratio of one mole per mole of diacyl peroxide, are particularly suitable for washing or bleaching at a temperature of from 30.degree.- 60.degree. C. The invention also provides diacyl peroxide compositions desensitized to impact or abrasion by intimate contact with a diluent, e.g. magnesium sulphate, lauric acid or sodium tripolyphosphate and protected against destructive interaction with other components of the bleaching on detergent composition during storage. Preferred diacyl peroxides include diphthaloyl peroxide, especially for colored fabrics.

摘要： A composition for the intranasal delivery of fentanyl or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to an animal includes an aqueous solution of fentanyl or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a pharmaceutically acceptable additive selected from (i) a pectin and (ii) a poloxamer and chitosan or a salt or derivative thereof; provided that when the composition comprises a pectin it is substantially free of divalent metal ions; and which, in comparison to a simple aqueous solution of fentanyl administered intranasally at the same dose, provides a peak plasma concentration of fentanyl (Cmax) that is from 10 to 80% of that achieved using a simple aqueous solution of fentanyl administered intranasally at an identical fentanyl dose. A method for treating or managing pain by intranasally administering the composition is also disclosed.

摘要： A device for applying successive resilient ligating bands to tissue is described. A sleeve has an opening at a front end thereof, and axially extending arms having axially extending spaces therebetween. Band-support surfaces located on the arms extend from the front end for accommodating a plurality of ligating bands. A first tube around which the sleeve is located, is reciprocal relative to the sleeve and has axially extending fingers provided with forward-facing pushing surfaces. Means are provided for drawing tissue to be ligated into the opening. In use, the pushing surfaces push the bands forwardly so that they ride along the band-support surfaces of the sleeve to each lie nearer the front end, a foremost band being pushed off the front end of the sleeve onto the tissue.
