Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for scanning in a wireless Local Area Network (LAN). A method for scanning by a station (STA) comprises the steps of: the STA generating a Medium Access Control (MAC) layer management entity (MLME)-SCAN.request primitive comprising information for a basic service set identifier (BSSID) and a service set identifier (SSID); the STA generating a probe request frame comprising wildcard BSSID and SSID; the STA multi-casting the probe request frame to a first Access Point (AP) forming an extended service set (ESS) network using a particular SSID; and the STA receiving a probe response frame broadcast from the first AP as a response to the probe request frame.

Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for initial access distribution over a wireless LAN. A method for an initial access by a station (STA) comprises: a step in which the STA receives a fast initial link setup (FILS) backoff parameter from an access point (AP); and a step in which the STA implements a backoff procedure by using the final FILS backoff parameter determined on the basis of the FILS backoff parameter and an access category of the data to be transmitted by the STA. Accordingly, the initial access of the STA can be distributed.

Disclosed are a method for setting an operating channel in a white space band and a device therefor. Particularly, a method for enabling a first device to set an operating channel in a white space band comprises the steps of: acquiring information on an available TV channel from a geo-location database; and setting an operating channel on the basis of the information on the available TV channel, wherein a center frequency of the operating channel can be set differently according to a TV channel used by an incumbent device among TV channels adjacent to the TV channel on which the operating channel is set.

A method for scanning by a STA can comprise the steps of: the STA unicasting a probe request frame to a target AP from a first channel, the target AP having been determined in accordance with a BSSID comprised in a primitive; the STA processing an ACK transmitted via the first channel within a first ACK transmission time, and determining whether the first ACK for the probe request frame is received; if the first ACK is received within the first ACK transmission time, then the STA monitoring a probe response frame, which is a response to the probe request frame from the first channel; and if the first ACK is not received within the first ACK transmission time, then regardless of a CCA level detected during the first ACK transmission time, the STA switching the scanning channel.

The present invention relates to a method for accessing channels in wireless communication systems and to an apparatus for same. More particularly, the method for supporting channel access of a station (STA), which does not belong to a group indicated by a traffic indication map (TIM), includes the steps of: receiving a channel access frame for requesting channel access within a TIM interval from an STA; and transmitting to the STA a response frame including information on whether to allow channel access of the STA in response to the channel access frame, wherein the channel access period of an STA, which belongs to the group, is determined on the basis of a bitmap of the TIM within the TIM interval, and the channel access of the STA is allowed only in a period other than the channel access period of the STA, which belongs to the group.
