摘要: A method for measuring tastes, which can better simulate the human gustation than known methods, as well as a taste sensor, computer program and an apparatus for measuring tastes, is disclosed. In this method, data processing is carried out by a two-phase radial basis function neural network. That is, by sensors, each of which sensors can quantify at least one component representing, individually or cooperatively, the taste of saltiness, sourness, sweetness, umami or bitterness, to obtain a response value from each sensor, and each of the obtained response values is input to a first phase radial basis function neural network to calculate the concentration of each component from each response value. Then, the concentration of each component is fed into a second phase radial basis function neural network, which correlates the concentration of each component with the intensities of saltiness, sourness, sweetness, umami and bitterness sensed by humans, to calculate the intensities of saltiness, sourness, sweetness, umami and bitterness sensed by humans.

摘要: A transfer residual toner that has not been electrostatically transferred onto a transfer paper P at a transfer nip and remains on a surface of a photosensitive element is temporarily retained by an elastic blade of a toner retaining unit in a mechanical manner before reaching a latent image forming area. When passing through the latent image forming area, the transfer residual toner is returned onto the surface of the photosensitive member at such a timing that writing is not performed by an exposing unit on the surface of the photosensitive element.

摘要: Provided are a method for producing a glass suitable for an information recording medium required to have high qualities, a process for the production of a glass substrate blank from the above glass and a process for the production of a glass substrate from the above blank. The method is for the production of a glass containing an alkali metal element by melting a glass material in a glass melting apparatus and uses, as said melting apparatus, a melting apparatus whose glass-contact portion is made of a material containing zirconium and containing substantially no alkali metal element. In the process for the production of a glass substrate blank, the glass obtained by the above method is press-molded or is subjected to a float process, and in the process for the production of a glass substrate, the above glass substrate blank is lapped and polished.

摘要: In a surroundings monitoring apparatus (1), a front approaching object detection section (12) detects a front approaching object that is approaching the vehicle from ahead from among objects sensed by a front millimeter wave radar (20) (step S1). An object specifying section (14) specifies the object which has been detected as the front approaching object by the front approaching object detection section (12) from among objects sensed by a rear millimeter wave radar (60) (steps S9 and S11). A rear approaching object detection section (16) excludes the object specified by the object specifying section (14) from the objects sensed by the rear millimeter wave radar (60) to detect a rear approaching object that is approaching the vehicle from behind (step S12).

摘要: A pressure detection unit includes a front-wheel transmitter and a rear-wheel transmitter operatively connected to wheel rims of a front wheel and a rear wheel, respectively. Inflation pressure signals transmitted from the front-wheel transmitter and the rear-wheel transmitter are received by a receiver. The receiver is arranged to be offset outward of a straight line connecting the front-wheel transmitter and the rear-wheel transmitter in the vehicle-body width direction. More specifically, the receiver is arranged in a space surrounded by a front cowl and a side panel, the space being between a coolant reserve tank and a radiator. The single receiver receives the signals transmitted from the front-wheel transmitter and the rear-wheel transmitter.

摘要: It is an object of the present invention to provide an object detecting device and an object detecting method capable of performing appropriate object detection by distinguishing an approaching moving object from a stationary object accurately. The relative velocity of an object, which exists in the lateral direction of a vehicle, with respect to the vehicle is detected, the absolute velocity of the object in the horizontal direction of the vehicle is calculated on the basis of the detection signal, and it is determined whether or not the object is an approaching moving object on the basis of the absolute velocity of the object in the horizontal direction of the vehicle. Accordingly, since it is possible to accurately distinguish whether an object existing in the lateral or oblique direction of the vehicle is an approaching moving object or a stationary object, it is possible to appropriately determine whether or not the object is an approaching moving object.

摘要: A coil bobbin to which an immobilizer coil is mounted, coil connecting terminals to which ends of the coil are connected, a fixed contact, a terminal for the fixed contact and connector terminals are integrally formed by resin molding into a coil bobbin integrated type insulator. Then, the coil connecting terminals, the terminal for the fixed contact, and the connector terminals are respectively soldered to a wiring board. All of them are incorporated in a body. In this manner, stress exerted on the soldered areas between the coil connecting terminals and the wiring board can be moderated to the substantially same extent as stress exerted on the soldered areas between the terminal for the fixed contact and the connector terminals, and the wiring board.

摘要: The disclosed invention provides a portable information terminal making it possible to easily transmit a plurality of kinds of information. The portable information terminal allows its user to select information categories to transmit from items stored as personal and/or schedule information in its memory. The selected categories are associated with one of data class of business use, private use, and the like. When the user selects the name and instructs the terminal to transmit, the terminal reads the information belonging to selected categories of the data class from the memory and transmits them, according to the specified transmission distance or destinations.
