Cement compositions useful in subterranean applications are provided. More particularly, permeable cement compositions for forming consolidated permeable cement masses in well bores to prevent sand influx into the well bores with produced fluids are provided. In one embodiment, the permeable cement compositions of the present invention comprise a hydraulic cement, water, and a degradable material capable of undergoing an irreversible degradation downhole selected from the group consisting of a degradable polymer selected from the group consisting of polysaccharides, chitins, chitosans, proteins, aliphatic polyesters, poly(lactides), poly(glycolides), poly(ε-caprolactones), poly(hydroxybutyrates), polyanhydrides, aliphatic polycarbonates, poly(orthoesters), poly(amino acids), poly(ethylene oxides), and polyphosphazenes; and a dehydrated salt.

In one embodiment, this invention presents a foaming additive that comprises at least one amidopropyl betaine having the formula: R—CONHCH2CH2CH2N+(CH3)2CH2COO−wherein R is a capryloyl, a capryl, an octyl, a decyl, a cococyl radical, or a mixture thereof. This foaming additive may be utilized in foamed treatment fluids, and those foamed treatment fluids may be utilized in fracturing and sand control treatments in subterranean operations. Associated methods also are presented herein.

A method of injecting a treatment fluid into a portion of a subterranean formation, comprising providing a treatment fluid having a viscosity; determining the breakdown pressure of the portion of the subterranean formation; calculating the maximum sustainable flow rate for the treatment fluid; and, injecting the treatment fluid into the portion of the subterranean formation at a flow rate less than or equal to the maximum sustainable flow rate for the treatment fluid. A method of injecting a treatment fluid into a portion of a subterranean formation, comprising providing a treatment fluid having a viscosity; determining the breakdown pressure of the portion of the subterranean formation; calculating the maximum allowable treatment fluid viscosity; adjusting the viscosity of the treatment fluid to a viscosity less than or equal to the maximum allowable treatment fluid viscosity; and injecting the treatment fluid into the subterranean formation at the selected treatment fluid flow rate.

The present invention relates to high porosity propped fractures and methods of creating high porosity propped fractures in portions of subterranean formations. Another embodiment of the present invention provides a method of forming a high porosity propped fracture in a subterranean formation, comprising providing a slurry comprising a fracturing fluid and proppant particulates coated with an adhesive substance; introducing the slurry into a portion of a fracture within the subterranean formation; and, depositing the proppant particulates into the portion of the fracture within the subterranean formation so as to form a high porosity propped fracture. Another embodiment of the present invention provides a high porosity propped fracture comprising proppant particulates substantially coated with an adhesive substance wherein the propped fracture has a porosity of at least about 50%.

One embodiment of the present invention provides a method of treating a portion of a subterranean formation, comprising providing a slurry wherein the slurry comprises a servicing fluid, particulates, and a degradable, water-absorbent material wherein the degradable, water-absorbent material acts to help keep the particulates from settling out of the slurry; and, introducing the slurry into the portion of the subterranean formation. Some embodiments of the present invention provide methods of preparing proppant on-the-fly comprising providing discrete amounts of a resin mixture that comprises a resinous material and a filler material; placing the discrete amounts of resin mixture into a well bore comprising a treatment fluid; and, allowing the discrete amounts of the resin mixture to substantially cure and form proppant particles while inside the treatment fluid. Other embodiments of the present invention provide methods of fracturing a portion of a subterranean formation using proppant prepared on-the-fly.

In one embodiment, the present invention provides a method of detecting particulate or fluid flow from a first location to a second location comprising the steps of: introducing a tracer matrix comprising a polymeric material and a photoactive material to the first location; and detecting the photoactive material at the second location. In another embodiment, the present invention provides a method of detecting flow from a first zone and a second zone in a multizonal well in a subterranean formation comprising the steps of: introducing a first photoactive tracer into the first zone; introducing a second photoactive tracer into the second zone; and detecting the first and the second photoactive tracers in the return flow from the first and second zones.
