Abstract:
A media station includes a base with a side and a translucent flexible strip of light emitting diodes (LEDs) attached about the side of the base, a frame assembly, two generally L-shaped tubular bars interconnecting the base with the frame assembly, and translucent flexible strips of LEDs attached to the tubular bars. The media station can have a speaker(s) mounted on each tubular bar, a magazine tray supported by the tubular bars, and a black light assembly mounted below the magazine tray. A desk unit is mounted to the frame assembly. The media station has an adjustable seat, a pair of seat tracks mounted on a shelf, and an open magazine rack and a storage drawer mounted below the shelf. The media station has right and left stationary trays and a foot rest on the base under the desk top, and can have left and right CD/DVD storage towers.
Abstract:
A salon chair includes a pedicure basin positioned between the foot of the chair and a front step opposite the foot of the chair. The pedicure basin includes a bottom floor, a perforated stepping surface above the bottom floor of the basin, and a nozzle assembly disposed between the bottom floor and the stepping surface for agitating water in the pedicure basin. Pressurized air is directed out of the nozzle assembly to induce a whirlpool action in the water held by the basin. The stepping surface may remain in the pedicure basin for days at a time, but may be removed when desired for cleaning purposes. The front step includes a cut-out, or groove, allowing allows a technician's chair to pull up closer to a person seated in the salon chair.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods are described for treatment of morbid obesity using minimally invasive techniques. The apparatus includes a system of components that may be used separately or in combination for effectively reducing stomach volume, bypassing a portion of the stomach and/or small intestines, reducing nutrient absorption in the stomach and/or small intestines and/or depositing minimally or undigested food farther than normal into the intestines, thereby stimulating intestinal responses. The components described include an artificial stoma device, a gastric sleeve device, an intestinal sleeve device, a combined gastrointestinal sleeve device and permanent and detachable attachment systems. Also described are devices for delivering and deploying the components of the system.
Abstract:
In a first aspect, a Raman amplifier is pumped using pumps just above and below the fiber water peak. This enables lower power pumps to be used, as the high attenuation is avoided. In a second aspect, a first pump provides a signal having a first wavelength and a first power, and a second pump source provides a plurality of signals, each having a power lower than the first power and a wavelength in a range approximately one Stokes shift higher than the first wavelength. In this way, the second pump source signals are amplified by the Raman effect by the first pump source signal, and the amplified second pump source signals cause signal amplification. The amplified second pump source signals can then include wavelengths above and below the water peak.
