    摘要: [Problem]To provide an organic EL display device which is suitable to minimize a size thereof and is capable of preventing erroneous light emission and reducing power consumption when a display is switched from one of a first and second organic EL display panels to the other. To provide an organic EL display device capable of preventing erroneous light emission with which display luminance in black level is pushed up to that in gray level. [Means for Solving the Problem]In the first invention, the current drive circuit having output pins common for the first and second organic EL panels is provided. Therefore, there is no need of providing current drive circuits for the respective first and second organic EL panels. Consequently, it is unnecessary to make the organic EL panel, which is not selected, standby state, so that it is possible to reduce power consumption correspondingly. In the second invention, the first and second organic EL panels of the organic EL display device are of the passive matrix type and first diodes for preventing reverse current flow are provided between column lines of the organic EL panels and terminal pins of the organic EL panels.

    摘要: First analog currents are obtained through a plurality of switch circuits provided correspondingly to output pins of an organic EL drive circuit as drive currents or through output stage current sources. The first analog currents or the drive currents are compared by a comparator provided within the organic EL element drive circuit with a second analog current (reference current) or a current obtained by passing the second analog current through a current source corresponding to the output stage current source. A result of comparison is outputted externally of the organic EL element drive circuit. The drive currents are obtained sequentially at the output pins by turning the switch circuits ON one by one sequentially by a control circuit to sequentially obtain the result of comparison for the drive currents from the organic EL element drive circuit.

    摘要: In a conventional optical waveguide using a photonic crystal, loss of light occurs in the substrate therebelow. The invention provides an optical waveguide comprising a substrate, a core portion formed on the substrate, and clad portions arranged on the substrate so that the core portion is sandwiched therebetween. The clad portions each have a periodic structure which exhibits a periodic variation in refractive index in a direction perpendicular to a light propagation direction, and at least one of the periodic structures is inclined with respect to a surface of the substrate so that an interval between the periodic structures is gradually reduced toward the substrate. The slim, compact optical waveguide can be fabricated in a relatively simple and easy process, incurs lower loss, offers satisfactory light propagation characteristics, and has adequate mechanical strength.
