摘要: A scanning device includes a scanning mechanism, a memory, a processing mechanism, and a scan rate adjustment mechanism. The scanning mechanism scans a media sheet having an image thereon at a variable scan rate, to yield raw data. The memory temporarily stores the raw data. The processing mechanism converts the raw data within the memory into processed data. The raw data is removed from the memory as the raw data is converted. The scan rate adjustment mechanism adjusts the variable scan rate, based on one or more of an amount of free space within the memory, a fill rate at which the raw data is filling the memory, and a removal rate at which the raw data is being removed from the memory, so that the memory does not become completely full.

The camera comprises an image-pickup device which photoelectrically converts an object image to an electric signal, an image processing circuit which applies image processing to the image data obtained by using the image-pickup device and generates processed image data, a recording circuit which records the processed image data in a recording medium, a control circuit which causes the image processing circuit to perform image processing on the image data obtained through one-time image taking under a plurality of different conditions to generate a plurality of the processed image data, and an information output unit which outputs information on the remaining number of times image taking is possible.

The image forming device includes a reading unit; an image data storage unit; a vacancy waiting unit that, when allocating a storage area for storing image data in the image data storage unit, waits until the storage size of a vacancy in the image data storage unit becomes greater than a predetermined value when allocation of the storage area fails; a failure processing unit that, when allocating the storage area for storing the image data in the image data storage unit, performs failure processing when allocation of the storage area fails; and a control unit that controls one of the vacancy waiting unit and the failure processing unit according to image forming conditions in the image forming device.

摘要: An image reading apparatus includes a roller which transports a sheet, a motor which drives the roller, an image sensor which reads data from the sheet and a control unit which synchronizes a read timing of the image sensor with a drive timing of the motor in response to change in the drive timing of the motor. Accordingly, when transporting an sheet is temporarily stopped, the transport speed can be changed as desired, whereby the shock caused by changing the transport speed is more lightened and if the resolution to read the original is high, a discrepancy in the data read by the image sensor caused by temporary stop of transporting the sheet can be also suppressed.

The type of communication link between the scanner or like device and a host computer is identified, and based on the communication link type, the requested compression factor is altered to generate a new compression factor subsequently used to compress the data. The amount of buffer, such as scan buffer, used by the scanner or peripheral device may also be used to alter the compression factor prior to compression.

摘要: An image processing system and method wherein image data is compressed and written to memory. The system includes a first controller, a second controller, a first detector, a third controller and a second detector. The first controller sequentially executes a reading and an image processing of image data from memory. The second controller sequentially executes a re-reading and an image processing of the image data from memory. The first detector detects insufficiency of empty capacity of the memory based on a size of image data of one page compressed at a predetermined compression rate. If insufficient memory for new image data is detected, the third controller writes new image data after a termination of the image processing of the image data of at least one page previously stored. The second detector detects overwriting by the third controller of the new image data on the stored image data.

The system can be configured to scan one or more sheets of print media and generate one or more image data pages. The one or more image data pages can be loaded into a memory as each image data page is generated. A first image data page can be copied into a page frame memory from the memory. The first image data page can be transmitted for imaging to an imaging mechanism where the transmitting can occur in parallel with the loading.
