When an external communication device (14) is connected to an image processing apparatus, the external communication device (14) transfers identification information to the image processing apparatus through a communication driver (10). A central processing portion (8) transmits information of the image processing apparatus through the communication driver (10) when a communication with the connected communication device (14) is possible. This information of the image processing apparatus is information which can be processed by the communication device, and includes a program which can be executed by the communication device (14). As a result of executing the program of the information of the image processing apparatus, functions of photographing and playback and the like of the image processing apparatus can be selected and instructed from the communication device (14).

When a print command that designates a layout recording function by its upper layer, and designates a frame print function by its lower layer is transmitted from a camera to a printer, the printer determines a layout print function that prints a plurality of images on a single sheet, based on the upper layer. In a case where the printer can determine the lower layer of the command, the printer acquires details of a layout. In a case where the printer cannot determine the lower layer of the command, the printer determines a normal frame print function. The printer prints a normal layout image or special frame image in accordance with the determined layout of images.

A picked-up image editing apparatus comprises a memory which stores a mixture of multimedia data with processing disable information and multimedia data without processing disable information, an image pick-up device which picks-up an image of an object as one of a still picture and a motion picture, an image data producing unit which produces image data based on an image picked-up by the image pick-up device, a combining instruction issuing unit which issues a combining instruction to combine the produced image data with the multimedia data stored in the memory, and an output content storing unit which, when the multimedia data targeted to be combined has processing disable information, stores only output contents based on a processing result.
Abstract:
A method and system for automatically configuring a hand-held electronic device for accessing a site on a public network is disclosed. The method and system include establishing a connection to a website server, which is responsible for establishing and maintaining website accounts, and sending information uniquely identifying the electronic device to the website server. The server then sends user account information to the device, including an account ID and password, created based on the electronic device information. The user account information is then stored on electronic device for use the next time the electronic device accesses the website, whereby the user does not have to enter account information in order to establish the ISP connection or the website account before accessing the public network.

A self-contained wireless camera (10) and a wireless camera system (25) having such a device and a base station (20). Video processing circuitry (200, 210) of the camera device receives video signals from a camera (130) and provides processed video signals. A radio receiver (101) receives processed video signals from the base station or another camera device. Images from the camera or the base station are displayed in a selected manner on a display or monitor (140). The base station device (20) receives processed video signals, stores them and retransmits them. A command signal is received by the radio receiver to modify operation in such a manner as to control bandwidth usage. Wireless camera devices can adjust their operation to accommodate other wireless camera devices. Different transport protocol modules 230 and 240 can be selected according to the application that the user selects for operation.

In a captured image outputting system, an image shot by an image capturing device is, upon shooting the image thereby, instantaneously transmitted to a display control device of a display system via wireless communication. The display system instantaneously projects the received image on a projection screen. The display system is comprised of a display device and a display control device. A liquid crystal projector may serve as the display device whereas an optional device, for use in wireless communication, connected to image input terminals of the liquid crystal projector may serve as the display control device. A digital still camera may serve as the image capturing device capable of carrying out wireless communication.

A host device includes an interface part to receive directly-printable file types from an image forming apparatus; and a controller to provide a popup menu to set a direct print option, if a file corresponding to the received file types is selected from among previously stored files. Accordingly, whether or not it is possible to perform direct-printing of a file which a user desires to print may be displayed, and thus direct-printing can be performed without individually checking whether each file is a directly-printable file type.

A scan ID, which is operation identification information having been used for selection of an image reading condition or the like, is used for selection of a communication destination from among a plurality of host PCs having network-connection to a scanner relay apparatus. Information such as an image reading condition associated with the scan ID is sent to a host PC defined as a communication destination, and a scan command sent back from the host PC, whose protocol is converted, is sent to a scanner apparatus. Furthermore, image data sent back from the scanner apparatus is sent to the host PC.
Abstract:
There is provided a document processing system in which a print image is stored into a memory and can be handled as output data by forming a document. The system comprises: a memory to store document data in a bit map style; a converter for converting the document data including characters, figures, images, etc., based on the result of the document formation into data of bit map style to be stored into the memory; an image output device corresponding to a page description language; and a circuit for making the data of bit map style stored in the memory correspond to the data format of the page description language, suitable for the particular image output device. With this system, data of substantially the same style as that in the local printing characters can be obtained from an external printing system in accordance with a request of the user.
