Abstract: A method for synchronizing a timing end application (TEA) in an edge communication network includes (a) receiving, at a first access device, a time stamp from a first TEA communicatively coupled to the first access device, (b) transmitting the time stamp from the first access device to a second access device via communication media of the edge communication network, (c) adjusting the time stamp to account for transit time of the time stamp from the first access device to the second access device, and (d) after adjusting the time stamp, transmitting the time stamp from the second access device to a second TEA communicatively coupled to the second access device.

Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein provide for expediting a setup of a wireless session. In one embodiment, a method comprises intercepting setup information for a wireless session from a mobile core (e.g., operated by an MNO) servicing the UE, initiating a communication session between a Modem Termination System (MTS) and a modem based on the intercepted setup information to support a forthcoming wireless session, and providing the wireless session through the communication session setup.

Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein provide for improving communications when encountering aggressive communication systems. In one embodiment, a communication system includes a WAP operable to link a UE to a communication network via a communication protocol and a communications processor operable with the WAP to detect another communication system operating within a range of the WAP, and to determine that the other communication system is operating via another communication protocol that differs from the communication protocol of the communication network based on UEs in range of the WAP. The UEs are operable to communicate via both communication protocols. The communications processor queries the UEs in the range of the WAP to determine which of the UEs are communicating via the other communication protocol, and estimates a rate of successful communication with the UE via the WAP based on a number of UEs communicating via the other communication protocol.

Abstract: A radio head includes a standalone small cell configured to receive a plurality of IP packets over a series of sequential sub-frames, and generate a bandwidth report for each of the plurality of received IP packets. The radio head further includes a radio link control unit configured to sum a received bandwidth report with segmentation induced noise for each of the plurality of received IP packets, and an adaptive filter configured to apply a filter weight to each of the series of sequential sub-frames. The applied filter weight is based on (i) an output of the radio link control unit for a previous sub-frame, and (ii) an output of the adaptive filter for the previous sub-frame.

Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein enhance WiFi communications in a RF band where conflicting LTE signaling exists. In one embodiment, a system includes a processor operable to detect the WiFi communications between a UE and a wireless access point of a WiFi network, to identify errors in the WiFi communications, and to determine a periodicity of the errors based on the LTE signaling structure. The system also includes an encoder communicatively coupled to the processor and operable to encode the WiFi communications with error correction, and to change the error correction based on the periodicity of the errors in the WiFi communications.

Abstract: A method for detecting aggressive signal transmission signatures in a wireless communication network is provided. The network includes at least one cooperative device, an access point, and at least one non-cooperative device. The method includes steps of generating a matrix of at least 8 bits configured to register each instance of at least one of a clear-to-send frame and a request-to-send frame transmitted between the at least one cooperative device and the access point during a specified duration, calculating a cumulative distribution function based on the registered instances within the generated matrix for a probability of the presence of an aggressive transmission signal by the at least one non-cooperative device within a measurable vicinity of one or more of the cooperative device and the access point, and determining the presence of the aggressive transmission signal based on the calculated cumulative distribution function being greater than a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: A method for mitigating delay in availability of data in a communication network includes predicting an amount of data to egress a first communication device; modifying the predicted amount of data to egress the first communication device according to a data delay profile, to generate a first signal representing anticipated upcoming data transmission by the first communication device, where the data delay profile represents delay in availability of data at the first communication device; transmitting the first signal from the first communication device to the second communication device; generating one or more Grants at the second communication device at least partially in accordance with the first signal, each Grant authorizing the first communication device to transfer data via the network; and transmitting the one or more Grants from the second communication device to the first communication device.
