The infusion device comprises a base that contacts a patient's skin and a reservoir arranged to be filled with a liquid medicant to be delivered beneath a patient's skin. The infusion device further comprises a flexible conduit communicating with the outlet of the reservoir, a pump that causes the medicant to flow down the conduit, an actuator that performs a function related to the operation of the device, and an enable mechanism that enables the actuator in response to the filling of the reservoir with the liquid medicant.

    摘要: A system and method are provided for detecting dislodgment of a right atrial endocardial lead implanted within a heart right atrium wherein the lead includes an electrode. Heart activity of the right ventricle of the heart and heart activity with the endocardial lead electrode are sensed during a time period. The sensed heart activity is stored in memory. The stored heart activity is analyzed to establish a first time window from the sensed ventricle activity and a second time window spaced from and preceding the first time window. The heart activity sensed with the endocardial lead electrode during the first time window is then compared to the heart activity sensed with the endocardial lead electrode during the second time window. In another embodiment, whenever heart activity is sensed with the atrial endocardial lead during the first time period, the atrial endocardial lead is considered dislodged.

An inhibit stage defines an inhibit time period responsive to each detected R wave and an output provides the cardioverting pulse to the lead system responsive to an A wave being detected. The inhibit stage precludes provision of the cardioverting pulse during each inhibit time period.

    摘要: A method and associated apparatus for using a primary FIFO and one or more secondary FIFOs in parallel to simplify flow control and routing in packet communication operations wherein at least one FIFO (buffer) is associated with each of a plurality of receiving nodes or components within a receiving node. The present invention applies received packets simultaneously to a primary FIFO and to all associated secondary FIFOs in the receiver of a packet communications link. After receipt of a packet, the packet is removed from any secondary FIFOs which correspond to receiver nodes or components to which the packet was not routed. For all receiving nodes or components to which the packet was routed, if the packet was stored in each associated secondary FIFO without overflow, then the packet is also purged from the primary FIFO. If any secondary FIFO overflowed by storage of the received packet, then the packet is purged from the overflowed FIFO and the packet remains stored in the primary FIFO for further processing. Flow control signals are generated and applied to the transmitting source as required in accordance with the status of the primary FIFO. The secondary FIFOs are not directly relevant to flow control logic. The receiving component corresponding to each secondary FIFO locates the next packet for processing by inspecting the associated secondary FIFO as well as the primary FIFO if the secondary FIFO overflowed. These methods and apparatus simplify flow control and routing control in packetized communication receivers.

    摘要: An implantable atrial defibrillator provides a pulse of defibrillating electrical energy to the atria of the heart in synchronism with sensed R waves in response to non-coincident sensing of an R wave at first and second areas of the heart. The defibrillating pulse is provided after a predetermined number of consecutive R waves are non-coincidently sensed to assure reliable synchronization. The atrial defibrillator is also operational in a marker mode wherein a number of synchronization marker pulses are delivered to the heart for detection on an externally generated electrocardiogram. The atrial fibrillation detector of the defibrillator is normally disabled and is activated when the sensed ventricular activity indicates a probability of atrial fibrillation to conserve a depletable power source. A plurality of lead systems are also described for use with the atrial defibrillator which reduce the quantity of electrical energy required to defibrillate the heart and ensure that the delivered atrial defibrillating electrical energy is substantially confined to the atria of the heart.
