Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to radio frequency (RF) front-end circuitry. For example, certain aspects provide an apparatus having a first converter circuit configured to upconvert a first baseband (BB) signal to a first RF signal based on a mode of operation, and a second converter circuit configured to upconvert a second BB signal to a second RF signal based on the mode of operation. The apparatus also includes a first RF weight adjustment circuit configured to selectively apply an amplitude weight or a phase weight to at least one of the first RF signal or the second RF signal based on the mode of operation, and a controller configured to control a power state of the second converter circuit in dependence on the mode of operation.

Abstract: A millimeter-wave antenna system includes: a ground plane; and a folded dipole radiator including: a plurality of feeds each extending away from the ground plane from a proximal feed end to a distal end; a plurality of radiating arms each coupled to and extending away from the distal feed end of a respective one of the plurality of feeds; and a plurality of folded conductors each coupled to a respective one of the plurality of radiating arms and each having a distal portion extending toward the ground plane to a distal conductor end; where each of the plurality of feeds and each of the plurality of radiating arms comprises an electrical conductor; and where the folded dipole radiator is discontinuous, without a conductive connection between the plurality of feeds via the plurality of radiating arms.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. One method may inlcude a base station or other device estimating an intended coverage area of all possible communication devices that are to be serviced by the base station or other device. The base station or other device may dynamically optimize at least one transmission metric such as a codebook, in response to a change in the coverage area. Another method may include a base station estimating a dynamic coverage area of a set of all possible user equipments or devices to be serviced, and dynamically optimizing a codebook structure in response to a change in the coverage area. Another method may include the base station determining a use-case of the set of all possible user equipments to be serviced by the base station, and hard-coding a metric corresponding to the use case.

Abstract: An antenna structure is disclosed that includes a first antenna extending from a substrate, a second antenna formed on the substrate, and first and second parasitic elements formed on the substrate. The first antenna provides an omni-directional radiation pattern in the azimuth plane for vertically polarized signals, and the second antenna provides an omni-directional radiation pattern in the azimuth plane for horizontally polarized signals. The parasitic elements absorb and re-radiate electromagnetic waves radiated from the second antenna.
