The present embodiments relate to systems and methods for using a blockchain to record information related to the lifecycle of a vehicle associated with a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), or other vehicle identifier. For example, the VIN lifecycle process may be used to detect a need to recalibrate one or more sensors. A baseline frequency may be determined at which a safety feature is expected to be triggered based upon data accessed at a blockchain. The baseline frequency maybe compared to a current frequency to identify a need that one or more sensors should be recalibrated. The systems and methods described herein may allow for using a blockchain which gives the option for private information, and permissioned participants in the blockchain. In particular, the systems and methods may allow for a distributed consensus amongst businesses, consumers, and authorities, as to the validity of information and transactions stored on the blockchain.

A method for generating data regarding a vehicle crash includes receiving initial sensor data, determining that the initial sensor data includes sensor data indicating a crash has occurred, receiving additional sensor data; and generating combined sensor data. A computing device for generating data regarding a vehicle crash includes a processor and a memory including instructions that when executed cause the processor to receive initial sensor data, determine that the initial sensor data includes sensor data indicating that a crash has occurred, receive additional sensor data; and generate combined sensor data. A computer readable storage medium includes non-transitory computer readable instructions stored thereon for generating data regarding a crash, wherein the instructions when executed cause a processor to receive initial sensor data; receive additional sensor data, determine that the initial sensor data includes sensor data indicating that a crash has occurred; and generate combined sensor data.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for processing a blockchain comprising a plurality of immutable sales records corresponding to sales made by agents of an entity are provided. According to certain aspects, a transaction request indicating a sale made by an agent of the entity may be received at a first node. A block including a sales record indicating the sale made by the agent may be added to a blockchain and transmitted to another node for validation. The first node may add the block to a copy of the blockchain, where the block may be identified by a hash value that references a previous block in the blockchain that includes at least one additional sales record.

Systems and methods are disclosed for interacting with smart contracts stored on a blockchain to control vehicle related activity. The systems and methods may include (1) receiving one or more transactions from one or more computing devices, the transactions associated with a particular vehicle and include a VIN for the vehicle and indicative of at least one of a trigger condition associated with the vehicle; (2) compiling the one or more transactions into a block of transactions; (3) distributing the block to a plurality of validation entities to form a consensus on an update to the distributed ledger; (4) routing the one or more transactions within the block to respective smart contracts associated with the VIN; and/or (5) automatically executing an action the particular smart contract directs should be performed in response to the particular trigger condition.

Methods and systems for determining a cause of loss to a property for damage associated with an insurance-related event based upon data received from a second property. A smart home (or other building) controller and/or an insurance provider remote processor may generate a time sequence of events for damage associated with an insure-related event. The smart home controller or remote processor may also receive a time-sequence of events generated by a smart home controller associated with a second property. The smart home controller or remote processor may compare the two time-sequences of events to determine causes of loss associated with damage to the property. The compared data may be further used to assign a portion of the overall damage to each cause of loss. Subsequently, the smart home controller or remote processor may automatically generate an insurance claim for damage to the property associated with the insurance-related event.

Methods and systems for assigning damage to a property to causes of loss are provided. A smart home controller and/or an insurance provider remote processor (or server) may generate a time sequence of events for damage associated with an insure-related event. The time-sequence of events may be analyzed to identify causes of loss associated with damage to the property. The smart home controller or insurance provider remote processor may further analyze the time-sequence of event to determine a portion of the overall damage associated with each cause of loss. Subsequently, according to certain aspects, the smart home controller or insurance provider remote processor may automatically generate a prepopulated insurance claim for damage associated with the insurance-related event, and/or transmit the automatically prepared insurance claim to an insured for their review, approval, and/or modification, such as via wireless communication to a mobile device associated with the insured.

In a computer-implemented method of generating event notifications, in-home data is received. The in-home data and environment data (e.g., weather, law enforcement, etc.) is generated by, or based on information generated by, a device located at a residence of an individual, and is analyzed to determine whether it is indicative of an event that should be reported to one or more neighboring residences and/or businesses. If the data is indicative of such an event, a notification is generated and transmitted to the relevant residences and/or businesses.

Systems and methods receive, from a building, an inventory identifying a plurality of electronic devices associated with a building automation system. The systems and methods compare the inventory to an additional inventory associated with an additional building automation system of an additional building to determine that the inventory is the same as or similar to the additional inventory, wherein the additional inventory identifies a plurality of additional electronic devices. The systems and methods further identify an automation scene that coordinates operation of at least a portion of the plurality of additional electronic devices and provide the automation scene to the building for implementation in the building automation system.
Abstract:
A shared ledger operated by a group of network participants according to a set of consensus rules manages and resolves subrogation claims between a clamant and a defendant. Evidence regarding the value of the subrogation claim is sent to the shared ledger by entities involved in the claim such as sending to a smart contract deployed on the shared ledger. The parties to the subrogation claim may supplement evidence and settlement proposals on the blockchain by broadcasting a transaction or sending data to the smart contract. Once the claim is resolved, the parties may settle the subrogation payment off-chain or may transact a token having value on the chain. A subrogation smart contract may be programmed to release funds under certain conditions including holding a bond by a claimant and/or upon final resolution of the subrogation claim.
