A travelling mechanism for a withdrawable circuit-breaker includes a crank handle that is secured in a manner that prevents it from being removed. A shaft of the crank handle revolves around an input shaft and is guided in a manner that permits it to be displaced in relation thereto. An accommodating recess holds the crank handle in its inoperative position. In its working position, the crank handle can only be pulled out when a locking lever that is dependent on the switching position of the circuit-breaker releases a locking slot on the shaft of the crank handle. In the working position, the crank handle is secured by a locking slide. An indicating device for indicating the position of the circuit-breaker comprises a two-armed indicating lever, which is provided with a window opening that permits the entry of a tongue of the locking slide in the test position.

A racking device performs a circuit breaker racking operation. The racking device includes a base with wheels and a brake to facilitate moving the racking device and positioning it with respect to a switchgear cabinet. An elongated tubular member extends substantially vertically from the base. A self-contained counter-balanced power module includes an enclosure having a pair of opposing openings for receiving the elongated tubular member, and a counterweight system for counter-balancing the power module. An actuator including a motor, a ball spline and a torque member moves a linkage assembly having an end effector with a negator spring that positively engages the circuit breaker. A switch module actuates the actuator from a remote location in order to move the linkage assembly and thus the circuit breaker to perform the racking operation from the remote location. Complicated field programming of the power module is not required.

Disconnector contact drive devices for switchgear for power supply and distribution are described, in particular for air-insulated medium-voltage switchgear, having movable pole units. In where in a first movement sequence, the disconnector contacts are separated from fixed mating contacts of the switchgear. In a second movement sequence, the pole units are displaceable to achieve the isolating distance, and the disconnect contacts are moved to disconnect them by force components acting in the x/y directions. The disconnector contact drive devices are equipped with linear guide shafts. The pole units contain pole box frames which are linearly movable along the guide shafts from an ON position stop to an OFF position stop due to the forces acting on the toggles. The toggles each have four pivot bearings. The first pivot bearing is coupled to a linear actuator shaft, the second and third pivot bearings are bearings of the toggle and the fourth pivot bearing is connected to the pole box frame The linear actuator shafts are connected to the rotary actuator shafts by corner gears.

A transportable, remotely actuated racking device is provided for use in connection the insertion and removal of very high voltage industrial circuit breakers. The device includes a motor activated rod assembly which is moved between first and second positions for grasping of the circuit breaker during insertion and removal from the circuit breaker housing. The racking device is remotely operated from a point of safety relative to the circuit breaker whereby direct exposure to possible fire and explosions which might occur during racking is greatly reduced.

A circuit breaker drawout arrangement includes a drive mechanism for moving a circuit breaker along a pair of rails between a Connect and a Disconnect position by means of a drive tool. A torque limited clutch permits a lower maximum torque when moving the breaker to the Connect position and a greater maximum torque when moving from the Connect position to the Disconnect position. In one embodiment the clutch is formed by a pair of oppositely orientated unidirectional roller clutches in the drive nut and in another by a ball and detent arrangement in the drive nut.
