Abstract:
Systems and methods of performing ASK or QAM modulation with uneven distance between symbols are provided. These are used to provide differing BER performances among bits sent from a transmitter to a receiver.
Abstract:
A transmission device configured to transmit a transmission bit string which is an arrangement of a unit bit string of multiple N bits includes: a conversion unit configured to convert the unit bit string into a converted bit string in accordance with a conversion table obtained by obtaining an error rate wherein a k'th bit out of the N bits is in error; obtaining an error expectancy which is an expectancy that a significant bit of the N bits in the unit bit string will err; and creating a conversion table that correlates the unit bit string and a converted bit string obtained by converting the insignificant bit of the unit bit string to a smallest error expectancy bit pattern which is a bit pattern that minimizes the error expectancy of the multiple bit patterns; and a transmission unit configured to transmit the converted bit string.
Abstract:
A transmitter time-division-multiplexes, in time domain, to assign at least a part of a second signal stream of a second channel being relatively high error-resilient compared to a first signal stream of a first channel between a boundary of the blocks and the first signal stream of the first channel of a time-division-multiplexing signal.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus allow for reliable and low-complexity decoding of EGPRS2 communication bursts when RTTI and BTTI equipment operate on the same timeslot(s). Various configurations for the Uplink State Flag (USF) mapping employ adjustable bit swapping of some or all USF channel-coded bits in communication bursts. Configurations that allow for an adjustable use of the symbol mapping stage in the transmitter and receiver to allow for more throughput and/or reduced complexity are also disclosed. Admissible mapping rules are known to the receiver and transmitter and therefore reduce the complexity of decoding this information. In order to increase throughput for EGPRS2 communication bursts, RTTI transmissions of different modulation types or EGPRS/EGPRS2 modulation and coding schemes during a BTTI interval are introduced that allow for reliable USF decoding and reduced decoder complexity.
Abstract:
In an information processing device, error detection information is generated from additional information and a header is generated from error detection information. An encoded header is then generated by appending a header-error correction code to the header and encoded additional information is generated by appending an information-error correction code to the additional information. Finally, an information-appended image is generated by integratedly appending the encoded header and the encoded additional information to the target image.

The symbol interleaving and channel mapping device is used in a transmitter of a mobile communication system, said transmitter receiving the channel state information fed back from a receiver of the mobile communication system; the symbol interleaving and channel mapping device comprises a symbol classification unit for classifying symbols according to their importance; a symbol sub-carrier mapping unit for performing a sub-carrier mapping according to the classification result of said symbol classification unit and the channel state information such that the important symbols correspond to the non deep fading sub-carrier as much as possible.
Abstract:
A method of encoding a signal to be transmitted from a terminal via a channel in a communication network includes receiving the signal at the terminal; determining characteristics of the channel; encoding a first portion of the signal in accordance with a first encoding method to produce a first encoded signal portion; and encoding a second portion of the signal in accordance with a second encoding method to produce a second encoded signal portion. The first portion of the signal encoded in accordance with the first encoding method is dependent on the determined characteristics of the channel. The first encoded signal portion and the second encoded signal portion are transmitted via the channel.
Abstract:
Soft decision sections (503, 506) provisionally decide each modulated signal (502, 505) separated using an inverse matrix calculation of a channel fluctuation matrix at separation section (501). Signal point reduction sections (508, 510, 514, 516) reduce candidate signal points of a multiplexed modulated signal using the provisional decision results (504, 507). Soft decision sections (512, 518) make a correct decision using the reduced candidate signal points and obtain received data (RA, RB) of each modulated signal. This allows received data RA, RB with a good error rate characteristic to be obtained with a relatively small number of calculations without reducing data transmission efficiency.
Abstract:
A control unit generates packet signals while controlling an interface (IF) unit, a modulation unit and a baseband processing unit. While dividing each packet signal into a plurality of partial periods, the control unit assigns data to at least part of each of the plurality of partial periods and sets the rate of data, for a partial period placed anterior to each packet signal, higher than that for a partial period placed posterior to the each packet signal. The IF unit, the modulation unit and the baseband processing unit transmit the packet signals thus generated.
Abstract:
A channel interleaving method and apparatus in a communication system using a low density parity check (LDPC) code. Upon receipt of information data bits, an encoder encodes the information data bits into an LDPC codeword using a predetermined coding scheme. A channel interleaver interleaves the LDPC codeword according to a predetermined channel interleaving rule. A modulator modulates the channel-interleaved LDPC codeword into a modulation symbol using a predetermined modulation scheme.
