    Abstract: An air cleaner assembly includes a filter housing extending axially along a longitudinal axis and a cover. The filter housing includes at least one sidewall (e.g., an annular sidewall) extending between a first housing end and a second housing end and a retainer formed proximate at least one of the first housing end and the second housing end. The cover is removably coupled to at least one of the first housing end and the second housing. The cover includes a handle assembly having a latch configured to releasably engage the retainer of the filter housing. The filter element includes filter media and is axially insertable into the filter housing when the cover is removed from the filter housing.

    Abstract: An anti-counterfeiting mechanism for a filter element to specifically, and preferably uniquely, identify a filter with a conductive pattern or path of conductive materials preferably either embedded (thin film circuit) under the surface, or over molded on, a portion of the filter. The conductive materials are preferably positioned at the filter end cap. The resistance of the filter element is an identifier that is preferably associated with the OEM manufacturer's labeling (such as product number) and/or other branding of the component. This electrical resistance signature permits rapid identification of counterfeit filters.

    Abstract: Various example embodiments relate to a filtration system. The filtration system comprises a housing having a first housing end and a second housing end. The housing defines a central compartment therein. The housing comprises a key slot disposed on the first housing end and a housing key element protruding from the first housing end toward the second housing end. The filtration system further comprises a filter element positioned within the central compartment of the housing. The filter element has a first filter end and a second filter end. The filter element includes filter media and an endplate disposed on the first filter end. The endplate includes a central endplate opening, a key element configured for engagement with the key slot, and an installation guidance element formed along the central endplate opening.     Abstract: A filtration system comprises a filter head assembly comprising an outlet slot, valve element, and latch element. The valve element is in fluid communication with the outlet slot and includes an open position and a closed position. In the open position fluid flow travels through the outlet slot. In the closed position fluid flow is prevented through the outlet slot. The latch element is configured to lock the valve element in the closed position. The filtration further comprises a filter cartridge structured to engage the filter head assembly. The filter cartridge comprises a first and second filter end. The filter cartridge comprises filter media and a keyed element disposed on the first filter end. The keyed element is structured for engagement of the latch element, wherein the engagement unlocks the valve element causing the valve element to be in the open position.

    Abstract: Various arrangements of a turbine for a rotating coalescer element of a crankcase ventilation system for an internal combustion engine are described. In some arrangements, the turbine is an impulse turbine, which is also known as a pelton turbine or a turgo turbine. The turbine is used to convert hydraulic power from a stream of pressurized fluid to mechanical power that is used to drive the rotating element. The turbine includes a non-wetting surface (e.g., an oleophobic or hydrophobic surface) that repels the pressurized fluid. The non-wetting surface may be achieved through plasma coating, fluoropolymer coating, micro-topography features, and the like. The non-wetting surface increases the power transmission efficiency from the stream of pressurized fluid to the turbine, thereby increasing the rotational speed of the rotating element compared to wettable surfaced turbines, which in turn increases the efficiency of the rotating element.

    Abstract: Filter media having a design embossed into the media are described. In some arrangements, the filter media is pleated filter media. In other arrangements, the filter media includes a plurality of channels, such as tetrahedron channels. The filter media includes a pattern of interrupted straight or angled embossments that help maintain separation between adjacent layers of the filter media. The embossments allow for two adjacent media layers (e.g., mating surfaces of the filter media) to remain separated, thereby increasing dust holding capacity and lowering pressure drop over similarly configured filter media not having the embossments.
