It is an object to provide a display device which can favorably display a image without delayed or distorted signals. The display device includes a first gate driver and a second gate driver. The first gate driver and the second gate driver each include a plurality of flip flop circuits and a plurality of transfer signal generation circuits. Both the flip flop circuit and the transfer signal generation circuit are circuits which output a signal inputted to a first input terminal with a half clock cycle delay. In addition, an output terminal of the transfer signal generation circuit is directly connected to a first input terminal of the flip flop circuit in the next stage. Therefore, delay and distortion of the signal which is inputted from the transfer signal generation circuit to the flip flop circuit can be reduced.

To provide a display device which can ensure high reliability of a driver circuit even when a threshold voltage of a TFT shifts. The display device includes a power supply control circuit which can apply a forward bias voltage or a reverse bias voltage to a gate of a transistor included in an output circuit, a monitor transistor which is formed to monitor the amount of change of a threshold voltage of the transistor included in the output circuit, and a threshold control circuit which controls the power supply control circuit so as to apply the reverse bias voltage to the gate of the transistor in order to compensate the threshold voltage of the transistor included in the output circuit.

A display device with high productivity and high display quality and a driving method thereof are provided by suppressing generation of a luminescent spot. A first switching element and a second switching element each of which has a different polarity are disposed in series between a power source line for supplying power to a light-emitting element and a power source line having a potential which is equal to or lower than a threshold voltage of the light-emitting element; one electrode of the light-emitting element is connected to a connecting node of the two switching elements; and in the case where a potential which is equal to or higher than the threshold voltage of the light-emitting element is applied to the light-emitting element regardless of an on/off state of the first switching element, a potential applied to the light-emitting element is set to be lower than the threshold voltage by turning the second switching element on. Thus, generation of a luminescent spot is prevented.

[Summary ][Problem] It is an object to provide a display device having a simple structure of a driver circuit for inputting a video signal to a pixel, high display quality of the intermediate gradation and low power consumption, and a driving method thereof. [Solving Means] Each of a plurality of pixels has a light emitting element and a capacitor. One electrode of the light emitting element is connected to the other electrode of the capacitor and one electrode of the light emitting element is applied to a voltage which is equal to or higher than a threshold voltage of the light emitting element and a potential of one electrode of the capacitor is changed. Therefore, a potential of one electrode of the light emitting element is changed and the light emitting element emits light.
