Abstract: Provided is a tracking area assignment method by an access and mobility management function (AMF) in a wireless communication system. The method may include receiving, from a session management function (SMF), service and session continuity (SSC) mode indication information for a protocol data unit (PDU) session generated for a user equipment (UE), obtaining serving area information for a serving area of a serving user plane function (UPF) associated with the PDU session, determining the assignment of a new tracking area to the UE is necessary based on a tracking area pre-assigned to the UE and the serving area, and performing tracking area update for the assignment of the new tracking area to the UE if it is determined that the assignment of the new tracking area is necessary.

Abstract: A network may instruct to change the connection of a user equipment connected to the network in a first mode, to a second mode. The network may instruct re-establishment while instructing the user equipment to change the connection. In this case, the network and the user equipment release the connection of the first mode while maintaining an uplink resource allocated to the user equipment. After completing the connection release, the user equipment may transmit a connection request to the network using the uplink resource directly without any access process.

The method can comprise the steps of: receiving information on whether a specific PDN has a failure; determining whether the specific PDN is in a failure state on the basis of the received information; and if it is determined that the specific PDN is in the failure state, performing a detach procedure for the specific PDN or a disconnection procedure for the specific PDN, and then, performing an attach procedure to another PDN or a PDN connection establishment procedure.

More specifically, a method for transmitting downlink data to a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system comprises receiving, by a Mobile Management Entity (MME), a Downlink Data Notification message from a Serving Gateway (S-GW); and in case the MME detects that a UE is in a sleep mode, transmitting, by the MME, a response message for indicating buffering of downlink data to the S-GW, wherein the response message includes buffering time of the downlink data, and the buffering time is a time period until the UE is expected to switch from the sleep mode to a reachable state.

Abstract: The present invention establishes a plurality of packet data network (PDN) connections in a user apparatus by coordinated selected IP traffic offload (CSIPTO). The present invention achieves this by receiving, from a network entity responsible for a control plane, an indication for a gateway rearrangement arising from CSIPTO. A determination is then made as to whether to maintain a previously established first PDN connection on the basis of the indication and establishing a second PDN connection on the basis of the indication. Then, if the previously established first PDN connection is to be maintained, marking one or both of the first PDN connection and the second PDN connection.

The method may comprise the steps of: transmitting a session initiation protocol (SIP)-based request message for requesting sending of a voice over LTE (VoLTE) call through a first type PDN connection; receiving, from a network node, a message including information directly or indirectly indicating that there is a problem in the first type PDN connection, instead of a normal response message to the SIP-based request message; determining to change the PDN type from the first type to a second type, on the basis of the information in the received message; and transmitting, to a mobility management entity (MME), a PDN connection request message including information on the changed second type.
