Abstract:
A method and apparatus for executing a first executable code image having a first version number into a memory of a device in an attempt to establish an operating environment of the device are described. The first executable code image retrieves a second version number from the second executable code image after successfully authenticating the second executable code image. If the first version number and the second version number do not satisfy a predetermined relationship, the second executable code image is prevented from being loaded by the first executable code image.
Abstract:
A patient's peripheral pulse volume and blood pressure are measured. The quantities are used to obtain a quantitative measure of peripheral vascular function. The quantitative measure can be one or more of pulsatile limb blood flow, total limb blood flow, limb vascular compliance and limb vascular resistance.
Abstract:
A dynamic filtering module receives a request to perform an operation on data in the database and a input. The dynamic filtering module provides as an output a modified request to a data access system. The modified request can include one or more restrictions added to the original request pertaining to which data will be accessed as a function of the input.
Abstract:
An item of furniture, especially a headboard of a bed, is personalized, e.g., with a user's name, and is backlit, thereby serving as a night light.
Abstract:
A memory circuit system and method are provided. An interface circuit is capable of communication with a plurality of memory circuits and a system. In use, the interface circuit is operable to interface the memory circuits and the system for reducing command scheduling constraints of the memory circuits.
Abstract:
The present invention provides systems and methods for monitoring a heart. According to one embodiment, the system includes an implantable registering unit for registering an electrical signal from the heart. The system includes a local data unit in operable communication with registering unit. The local data unit may be placed in communication with a computer, which may be at a location remote from the local data unit. The computer is adapted to receive the data from the local data unit corresponding to the registered electrical signal and to compare the registered electrical signal to a reference electrical signal to determine whether the heart is functioning properly.
Abstract:
The present invention is in the fields of molecular and cellular biology. The invention is generally related to reverse transcriptase enzymes and methods for the reverse transcription of nucleic acid molecules, especially messenger RNA molecules. Specifically, the invention relates to reverse transcriptase enzymes which have been mutated or modified to increase thermostability, decrease terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase activity, and/or increase fidelity, and to methods of producing, amplifying or sequencing nucleic acid molecules (particularly cDNA molecules) using these reverse transcriptase enzymes or compositions. The invention also relates to nucleic acid molecules produced by these methods and to the use of such nucleic acid molecules to produce desired polypeptides. The invention also concerns kits comprising such enzymes or compositions.
