Abstract: Techniques for obtaining wideband channel state information (CSI) for a plurality of subbands is described. A two-stage procedure may be used to obtain the wideband CSI. At a first stage, a base station may broadcast a wideband channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) that includes a plurality of subbands. The wideband CSI-RS may be received by any user equipment (UE) within range of the base station. The UE may select one or more subbands in the wideband CSI-RS for communication with the base station. To indicate which subbands were selected, at a second stage, the UE may transmit a narrowband sounding reference signal (SRS) in each of the selected subbands. The base station may schedule traffic for the wireless communications system based on the narrowband SRSs.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may transmit, and a UE may receive, via a configuration message, a group identifier indicating a group of UEs with which the UE is associated, the group of UEs being one of multiple groups of UEs which are each allocated resources. The base station may transmit the group downlink control information message to the group of UEs, and the UE may receive the group downlink control information message. The UE may determine that the group downlink control information message pertains to the UE by associating the group identifier with the group downlink control information message. The base station and the UE may communicate in accordance with the group downlink control information message based at least in part on the UE being associated with the group to which the group downlink control information message pertains.

Abstract: Base stations of neighbor cells can coordinate with each other in allocating grant-free uplink (GUL) resources for a device-to-device (D2D) connection or channel between user equipments (UEs) across the neighbor cells. The base stations coordinate to determine a condition conducive to D2D communication between the UEs. If the condition exists, the base stations coordinate to allocate network resources for D2D communication between the UEs, and establish a D2D connection between the UEs using the allocated network resources for D2D communication.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to communication systems, apparatus and methods which enable or support transmitting/receiving downlink control information (DCI) carrying a downlink grant or an uplink grant. A method includes detecting a reference length based on an effective length of a downlink (DL) grant DCI and an effective length of an uplink (UL) grant DCI and calculating a length difference based on the effective DL grant DCI length and the effective UL grant DCI length. A length of a padding field in the DL grant DCI and/or the UL grant DCI is set equal to the calculated length difference such that the lengths of the DL grant DCI and UL grant DCI are both equal to the reference length. Padding bits are inserted in the padding field of the DL grant DCI and/or the UL grant DCI. Thereafter, the DL grant DCI and/or the UL grant DCI is encoded and transmitted to a scheduled entity.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support evolved semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) for wireless communications. A base station may configure SPS in which multiple time intervals are scheduled, each time interval including multiple slots that may be scheduled by different uplink or downlink resource allocations. The SPS configuration may include an ON-OFF duty cycle where an ON portion of the duty cycle spans a portion of a time interval and includes uplink and downlink resources, and an OFF portion of the duty cycle spans a remaining portion of the time interval and does not include any allocated SPS resources. Such SPS configurations may be used, for example, for transmitting sensor data and command information between controllers and sensors/actuators in a factory automation network.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods for modifying the numerology of the D2D frame structure to match the numerology of the Macro cell communication frame structure. Particularly, the present disclosure introduces techniques that allow the D2D devices to partition a long-TTI D2D transmission into a plurality of segments such that each segment may fit into a short-TTI MiCr uplink (UL) subframe. The present disclosure also provides techniques for scheduling D2D transmission and managing transmission power of the D2D communication to minimize the interference with the MiCr communication on the macro cell while maximizing the spectrum utilization.

Abstract: A relay device in a mesh wireless access network (WAN) may listen for a signal during a pre-wakeup (PWU) period to determine whether to power on a radio during a wakeup cycle. If the relay device receives a signal during the PWU period, it may power on a radio to transmit a discovery broadcast or to send and receive data. The relay device may also receive synchronization signals during the PWU period to maintain timing synchronization in cases when the wakeup cycle includes long periods of inactivity. That is, different interne of everything (IoE) devices (including relay devices) may operate in different discovery modes based on different mobility patterns. Devices that move frequently may operate in a transient operating mode. Devices that rarely move may operate in a persistent operating mode, and may take advantage of the PWU synchronization signals.

For example, symbols of a first handshaking process may be interleaved with symbols of a second handshaking process.
