Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication are provided. In an embodiment, a method of wireless communication includes receiving, at an access point, a probe request, generating a probe response to conditionally include neighbor report information based on the probe request; and transmitting the probe response to a wireless device.
Abstract:
In a particular embodiment, a method includes determining, by a first device, a number of discovery messages received during at least one discovery interval. Based on the number of discovery messages, an estimated number of devices in an ad-hoc network is determined. The method further includes transmitting, during a second discovery interval that is subsequent to the at least one discovery interval, a discovery message. The discovery message indicates the estimated number of devices in the ad-hoc network.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication are provided. In an embodiment, a method of determining a set of communication parameters for a wireless communication includes transmitting, at an access point, one or more frames each including a transmission power indication, receiving, at the access point, a probe request using a first set of communication parameters; and transmitting, at the access point, a probe response using a second set of communication parameters, the second set of communication parameters based on the first set of communication parameters. In some aspects, each of the first and second set of communication parameters define a MCS, which defines a coding rate of the communication.
Abstract:
A method includes, prior to authenticating a mobile device, receiving by an access point a first message from the mobile device, determining that the mobile device is to be authenticated prior to responding to the first message, and sending to an authentication server a second message that includes an authentication request and the first message. The method also includes receiving from the authentication server a third message that includes a response to the authentication request and that further includes the first message.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, and computer program products for synchronization of wireless devices in a peer-to-peer network are described herein. In one aspect, a method for determining at least one of a time for exiting and a time for entering a low power sleep mode to utilize a discovery window is provided. The method includes determining an earliest possible start time of a discovery window according to a clock at the first device. The method further includes transitioning from the low power sleep mode to a higher power active mode approximately at the determined earliest possible start time, wherein the determined earliest possible start time is based at least in part on a clock drift value associated with the first device and a clock drift value associated with a second device of the wireless network.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure relate generally to wireless communication systems, and more particularly, to beacons for shared spectrum operation among multiple tiers of users. For example, a method for wireless communication is provided that includes generating, with a second tier wireless communication device of a network operating in a shared spectrum, a beacon that includes a short training field (STF), a long training field (LTF), and a beacon information field, the beacon information field including data about the network; and transmitting, from the second tier wireless communication device of the network, the beacon during a time slot of a sub-frame such that communications over the shared spectrum are coordinated based on the beacon.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, and computer program products for synchronization of wireless devices in a peer-to-peer network are described herein. In one aspect, a method for synchronizing a wireless communication apparatus is provided. The method includes determining, at a wireless communication apparatus, a first time interval since transmitting a message including a time value of a clock signal of the wireless communication apparatus; and determining, at the wireless communication apparatus, a second time interval since updating the time value of the wireless communication apparatus; and transmitting a message comprising content that is based on comparing the first time interval to a first threshold and comparing the second time interval to a second threshold.
Abstract:
A device for wireless communication includes key logic configured to obtain a candidate group key corresponding to a data link group. The device also includes a wireless interface configured to transmit an announcement message to one or more devices of the data link group during a discovery window of a first communication channel. The announcement message includes a multicast message and indicates availability of the candidate group key.
Abstract:
A device for wireless communication includes key logic configured to obtain a candidate group key corresponding to a data link group. The device also includes a wireless interface configured to transmit an announcement message to one or more devices of the data link group during a paging window designated for the data link group. The announcement message includes a multicast message and indicates availability of the candidate group key, and the announcement message.
Abstract:
Techniques for supporting communication over an extended range in a wireless network are disclosed. In one aspect, a station sends multiple messages of a given type for different operating modes. These messages can be detected by stations with different capabilities, which may avoid collisions between stations. In one design, a first station receives a Request-to-Send (RTS) message from a second station having data to send. The first station sends a first Clear-to-Send (CTS) message and also a second CTS message in response to the RTS message. The second CTS message has an extended range as compared to the first CTS message. The first station thereafter (i) receives data sent by the second station in response to the second CTS message and (ii) sends an acknowledgement having an extended range.
