摘要: An image coding device for coding an input image of multi-level. In the image coding device, an input multi-level image is analyzed by an image analyzing portion, and update information to be used when a probability estimation value is generated is generated by an update value determining portion on the basis of adjoining pixel information as a result of the analysis by the image analyzing portion. Further, a probability estimation value is generated by a probability estimating portion on the basis of the update information generated by the update value determining portion and the result of the analysis by the image analyzing portion, and the input multi-level image is arithmetically coded by a code word generating portion on the basis of the probability estimation value generated by the probability estimating portion.

摘要: An image signal is divided into pixel blocks, each of which is subjected to orthogonal transform to be converted to transform coefficients. The transform coefficients are divided by respective thresholds set as a quantization matrix to become quantized coefficients. Coding symbols are constructed from the quantized coefficients using a coding symbol table which includes additional coding symbols corresponding to adaptive coding operations. The coding symbols are entropy-coded to become coded information. One of the adaptive coding operations is effected in accordance with identification information that is produced in accordance with a statistical parameter of the pixel blocks. The transform and quantizing operations are stopped during a block run, and after the end of the block run a coding symbol corresponding to the block-run detection is coded. The quantization matrix is switched in accordance with variance of pixel values of the pixel block, and a coding symbol corresponding to the switching of the quantization matrix is coded.

摘要: An image signal analyzing system capable of accomplishing shape analysis for processing or coding an image with easy, by space division using two orthogonal representative vectors, or by differential representative vectors given by the difference between representative vectors. With such a system, inner products between mean separated blocks produced by a mean separated unit and a differential representative vector set stored in a memory in advance are computed by inner product computing unit disposed into a binary tree shape having n stages. Positive/negative signs expressing resulting inner products in the respective stages of the binary tree computed by the inner product computing unit are held, as indexes, by n index holding means sequentially, and an index representing the shape of input image information is obtained from the n indexes held by the index holding unit.

摘要: An optical reflecting unit comprises a support prism extending in an elongated manner, and a half mirror fixedly mounted in contact with a surface of the support prism. An optical axis of the incident light in the form of a line incident upon a half mirror is folded. A transmitted light transmitted through the half mirror is incident upon the support prism. An extracted bore is provided in which an incident transmitted light is irregularly reflected by a bottom and a peripheral wall of the extracted bore. With the arrangement discussed above, the transmitted light transmitted through the half mirror and reflected by the surface of the half-mirror support prism is not deviated in a direction along the optical axis of the reflected light from the half mirror. Only the reflected light from the half mirror can be led to a predetermined direction.

摘要: A mobile radio telecommunication system and method provide battery-saving receiving of mobile stations. The mobile station autonomously changes the period of intermittence according to the frequency of paging in order to reduce the power consumption of the mobile station. When there has not been paging processing for a fixed time, the mobile station autonomously prolongs the period of intermittence and reregisters a new period of intermittence. In case there has been paging processing, the mobile station shortens the period of intermittence. If blocking has occurred for paging from the cell site, the cell site incorporates blocking information into a broadcast signal, informs the mobile station of occurrence of blocking, and registers a new period of intermittence.

摘要: A method for enhancing the reliability of output data from a label reader adapted to read a bar code consisting of a plurality of bars. Each bar in the bar code is scanned at a plurality of points and sets of binary symbols representative of the scanned points along each bar are obtained. Two sums are then formed for each bar, the first being the number of binary "1"s in the set and the second being the number of binary "0"s in the set, and the ratio of two sums is computed. If the ratio is larger than (1+.alpha.) for .alpha.>0, then the data corresponding to the numerator sum is regarded as reliable. If the ratio is less than (1-.beta.) for 0
