    摘要: The present invention realize a high speed retrieval performance in a document retrieval system referring to partial data of documents including structured data such as XML documents and electric mails, without providing further memory. The present invention includes storage means for storing documents to be retrieved onto a disk device, a calculation means for calculating an allocated capacity of the memory, and storage means for saving, onto the memory, partial data of the documents stored on the disk device by the calculated allocated capacity of the memory. The present invention also includes a first retrieval means for retrieving partial data stored on the memory, determining means for determining whether or not to retrieve the documents stored on the disk device based on the result from the first retrieval, and a second means for retrieving the documents stored on the disk device based on the result from the above determination.

    摘要: A storage system carries out database reorganization processing. In a method of reorganizing, a database which is stored in a disk drive of a storage device is reorganized. The disk drive contains a first volume where the database is stored and a second volume paired with the first volume to store a copy of the database. The reorganization method includes the steps of: making transactions from the host computer into a quiescent state; splitting the paired first volume and second volume so as to only allow the database in the first volume to be accessed; releasing the quiescent state of the transactions; reorganizing the second volume; and copying data in the second volume to the first volume to resynchronize and pair the first volume and the second volume with each other.

The system is controlled to cause the nodes to refer to the shared table stored in the shared data area on any timing in parallel. This prevents load from being concentrated onto the node allocated to the data area.

When data has been updated, updated bit information indicating that the data has been updated is stored in an update bitmap management table stored in the storage unit. When the number of updated bit information in the update bitmap management table has reached a differential backup reference value for estimating differential backup time, the backup of data corresponding to the updated information is commanded. When the command for the backup is received, the updated bit information stored in the update bitmap management table in the storage unit is read out. Then, the backup of the data corresponding to the updated bit information is obtained.
