Abstract:
A fluid filter assembly includes a housing having a closed end and an open end; a filter element operably oriented in the housing; a baffle plate mounted to operably cover the housing open end; the baffle plate including a first axial face and an outer circumferential wall circumbscribing the first axial face; the outer circumferential wall being groove-free; the first axial face defining at least a first sealing groove; and a sealing gasket oriented in the first sealing groove; the sealing gasket forming a seal between the housing and the baffle plate. Methods of constructing, installing, and servicing includes fluids filters of the type described.
Abstract:
A method for filtering liquid includes directing the feed liquid into an annular space between concentrically arranged filter sleeves formed of flexible bag filter type filtration media. The liquid enters the annular space via openings formed in an inlet plate attached to the sleeves. The central area of the inlet plate is closed to prevent flow of unfiltered liquid into the cylindrical space defined by the innermost filter sleeve, whereby all liquid entering the filter assembly is filtered by the sleeves.
Abstract:
A liquid filter including a valve arranged in a supporting tube of a filter insert, in which the valve is fixed by a disk (60) which is oversized relative to a mounting opening (61), so that reliable sealing to the edges of the disk is facilitated. Use of the disk (60) simplifies the mounting of the valve.
Abstract:
A filter system in which a housing and an environmentally friendly filter cartridge are coordinated to provide ease of change of the filter cartridge and reliable operation. The cartridge contains no metal parts and is readily incinerateable. The housing is provided with a number of nulluniversalitynull features including a changeable bottom which allows the housing to operate as a fuel filter, a lubrication filter, or a hydraulic filter in different applications. The housing and cartridge are configured to provide support for the plastic elements of the cartridge to prevent crushing of the filter under normal and abnormal filter operating conditions. A key system associated with the cartridge and the housing provides assurance that the correct filter is installed for a particular application.
Abstract:
A water filter for recreational vehicles (RV) is provided which includes a ceramic filter element having a radial flange attached thereto. The flange facilitates filter assembly and replacement of the filter element in the filter housing. The method of use describes a quick and easy method of replacing the filter element which is advantageous to unskilled persons in assembling and attaching the water filter to the RV.
Abstract:
A spin-on filter cartridge adapted to be mounted on a filter mount has a housing with an open end and a closed end. Adjacent to the closed end of the housing is a crimped portion defining an annular groove, the crimped portion retaining an annular support and having a radially extending shelf for supporting an end plate. An annular gasket having an annular channel for receiving the crimped portion of the housing has projecting rib which is received in the annular groove defined by the crimped portion. With this arrangement, the annular gasket is securely attached to the housing and is able to rotate independently of the housing, so that when the gasket is in abutment with the filter mount, the housing can be rotated without rotating the gasket.
Abstract:
A filter insert includes a plurality of annularly-shaped, bag-type filter sleeves (111, 112, 113) concentrically-arranged. The ends of the sleeves are attached to the flanges of an inlet plate 114, an annular terminal plate 124 or a circular terminal plate 121 (e.g. by ultrasonic welding). The filter insert is removably placed within a basket such that concentrically-arranged screens (160, 161, 163) of the basket support respective filter sleeves against radial flow during filtration.
Abstract:
A filter (12) has a resiliently compressible thermally and chemically resistive combined unitary frame and gasket member (22) extending along its perimeter (18) and supporting a filter media element (16) and sealed to both the filter media element and the housing (20). One or more flange portions (34, 72, 94, 96, 118, 130) have one or more hollow channels (36, 74, 90, 92, 120, 132) deformed by engagement with the housing and reducing required closure force of the housing thereagainst.
Abstract:
Length-adjustable filter cartridges are provided which in preferred embodiments include at least one length-adjustable end cap attached to an end of a generally cylindrical filter body. The length-adjustable end cap most preferably includes an annular stationary ring member which is attached to one end of the filter body, and a moveable connection member slideably received within said annular stationary ring member so as to be moveable longitudinally relative thereto. A seal is formed between the stationary ring member and the moveable connection member so as to seal against fluid leakage yet permit relative axial movement (length adjustment) therebetween. In use, the filter cartridges may be adapted to fit conventional standardized bag filter cartridge housings even though the physical size and/or geometries of the metal support basket thereof is non-standard. That is, a filter cartridge having the length-adjustable end cap of the present invention may be positioned within a standard sized bag filter cartridge housing, whereby the length-adjustable end cap may be longitudinally moved until the filter cartridge length corresponds substantially to that of the surrounding metal support basket in which it is placed. As such, the bottom end cap of the filter cartridge is ensured to be supported by the metal basket to prevent it from rupturing during normal use.
Abstract:
A housing configuration for a liquid filter in which the housing is cup-shaped and is produced by a molding technique. The housing lid or lid is secured to the housing (10) by a course of threads (28) which can be produced without forming any undercuts. This is achieved inside an area (30) around the mold parting plane (29) by providing recesses (31) on the course of threads in the horizontal areas. As a result, the thread can be produced directly on the housing by the initial molding technique without any post-molding processing measures, so that manufacturing costs are reduced.
