    摘要: A vertically polarized traveling wave antenna forms peanut-type directional lobes without significant nulls between the lobes. A self-supporting coaxial line feeds quad-dipole bays coupled around the coaxial line, with opposed dipole pairs spaced along the coaxial line. Matched-layer spacing provides substantial cancellation of the reactive components of the loads. Dipoles are oriented parallel to the coaxial line axis, with opposite “hot” (center coupled) elements oppositely oriented. Radiated signals have rotating phase. Changing the spacing within quads from a quarter wavelength or rotating the second dipole pair of each quad away from a right angle causes the antenna to radiate strongly on one axis and weakly at right angles thereto, without the nulls of back-to-back panel antennas.

For example, a linear phased array includes N discrete phase shifters and N−1 variable phase shifters, wherein the N−1 variable phase shifters are respectively coupled between adjacent output nodes of the N discrete phase shifters such that the N discrete phase shifters reduce an amount of continuous phase shift provided by the N−1 variable phase shifters. Each of the N discrete phase shifters may select between two or more discrete phase shifts. The N discrete phase shifters also preferably eliminate a need for a variable termination impedance in the linear phased array.

    摘要: An antenna array may be constructed using a plurality of tubes of electrically conducted material in conjunction with an additionally electrically conductive component which covers the front faces of tubes and at least part of the sides. Between the structures, a further electrically conductive material may be placed separated by dielectric material, and may be used to provide radiating elements and a feed structure by producing stripline structures. This structure is thereby able to reduce cavity back slots fed with triplate stripline along the sides of the tubes. This structure, particularly when made from plastics material, is low in complexity and cost and lightweight. These features overcome many of the disadvantages of the existing designs.
