Abstract:
The invention discloses a method for detecting priority of data frames comprising the steps of extracting (S1) a bit pattern from a predetermined position in a frame, comparing (S2, S3) said extracted bit pattern with a search pattern, and identifying (S4) said received frame as a priority frame in case said extracted bit pattern (BP) matches with said first search pattern (SP). By this method, the priority of a data frame can easily be detected. The invention also proposes a corresponding device for detecting priority of data frames.
Abstract:
A method for increasing information throughput in a transmitter of a digital mobile telecommunication system is provided. The method includes the step of implementing error correction with respect to a traffic channel frame having user service information to generate CRC bits for the user service information of the traffic channel frame. The CRC bits are inserted into a control channel frame. The traffic channel frame and the control channel frame having the inserted CRC bits are transmitted at a radio frequency.
Abstract:
A method for transmitting messages between a communications controller and devices in a factory process control system, wherein each device has an associated identification number which is unique to that device. A message to be transmitted is compiled, and then based on the criticality of the message, one of a standard, secure, or critical message protocols is chosen for the message; each protocol being defined to generate a message checksum for the message in a manner different from the other protocols. The generated checksum is then included in the message. Using the secure and critical protocols, a message checksum is generated from the message to be transmitted and the identification number of the intended recipient device. In the secure protocol, the message checksum is included in the message, but the identification number is not included in the message; in the critical protocol, both the message checksum and the identification number are included in the message. A crosstalk query message may be sent from the controller to determine if a link of a factory process control system is susceptible to crosstalk. The controller sends to a link on which a particular device is known to reside a diagnostic message indicating the identification number of the particular device and requesting any other devices that unintentionally receive the message to transmit a response message to the communications controller.
Abstract:
Some embodiments relate to a technique of transmitting a streaming media with Forward Error Correction (FEC). The technique includes: upon receiving the streaming media, encoding, segmenting and packeting frames comprised therein to generate a packetized elementary stream of media packets with variable sizes; for each L sequential media packets, calculating a “random loss” (RL) FEC parity and generating a respective RL FEC packet associated therewith; calculating “burst loss” (BL) FEC parities in accordance with a predefined FEC scheme and generating respective BL FEC structures bearing FEC headers and usable for generating BL FEC packets; calculating size-related parameters of a group of sequential media packets, the group being selected in accordance with the FEC scheme; and transmitting the packetized elementary stream with interleaved FEC packets. The BL FEC packets are transmitted merely when the calculated size-related parameters meet a size-related burst loss (SRB) criterion defined by the FEC scheme.

Abstract:
A receiver for receiving data in a broadcast system comprises a broadcast receiver that receives via said broadcast system a receiver input data stream comprising a plurality of channel symbols represented by constellation points in a constellation diagram, a demodulator that demodulates said channel symbols into codewords, and a decoder that decodes said codewords into output data words. A redundancy calculator determines a required amount of redundancy data required for correct demodulation and decoding by use of the originally received channel symbol and additional redundancy data. A broadband request unit requests, if demodulation of a channel symbol and/or decoding of a codeword is erroneous or likely to fail, a required amount of redundancy data via a broadband system, that is received by a broadband receiver via said broadband system. Said demodulator and/or said decoder is configured to use said redundancy data for demodulation and decoding, respectively.
