    摘要： An apparatus and a method are provided for killing insects on vegetation using an insecticide, where the insecticide does not contact the vegetation. In one embodiment, an absorbent material is placed on an upper surface of a disc mower. The absorbent material is soaked with insecticide, and as a tractor moves the mower through a field of hay, insects land on the insecticide-laden material and die from the toxic effect of the insecticide. In another embodiment, an L-shaped blade outfitted with an insecticide-laden mat is mounted transverse to the front of an all-terrain vehicle or a tractor, which is driven through a field. The blade, or alternatively a feeder bar attached to the blade, brushes the tips of vegetation in the field, causing bugs and insects to fly, fall or jump from the vegetation onto the insecticide-laden mat, where the insecticide kills some, most or all of the bugs and insects.

The pump directs the insect controlling chemical agent from the tank through conduits to one or more discharge nozzles for discharge therefrom. The discharge nozzles are positionable to control the direction of discharge of the insect controlling chemical agent.

    摘要： A tractor mountable apparatus for collecting and destroying insects from multiple rows of plants, and for simultaneously burning unwanted vegetation on the ground between the rows of plants as the tractor passes along the rows, is disclosed. The apparatus includes a supporting frame mountable upon the front end of a tractor with a number of open top metal pans suspended from the supporting frame at spaced intervals such that the pans pass between rows of plants as the apparatus moves through a field. Each of the pans has three or more transversely spaced elongated gas burner conduits for directing combustible gases along the surface of the pan and directing the combustible gases downwardly beyond the rear end of the pan for destroying insects that are knocked into the pan as the pan passes between the rows, and for destroying unwanted vegetation between the rows of plants.

    摘要： A device for capturing and exterminating fire ants includes a container, a primary vacuum unit, and an inlet hose. The primary vacuum unit reduces the air pressure within the container such that air is drawn in through the inlet hose. During a collection operation, a user operates the digging attachment to loosen a fire ant mound and collects the mound contents with the inlet hose. Once the collection operation is completed, the user seals all openings to the container against the atmosphere and connects a secondary vacuum source to a vacuum receiving nipple formed in the container. The secondary vacuum source removes air from the container and asphyxiates the fire ants within the container. The present invention also includes a digging attachment attachable to the inlet hose that allows a user to loosen the contents of a fire ant mound for more effective collection. Further included are intake clearing buttons for clearing a rigid curved central portion of the inlet hose that tends to accumulate dirt and debris during the collection operation. The present invention also includes a method for capturing and asphyxiating fire ants.

    摘要： Tractor mountable apparatus for collecting and destroying insects from multiple rows of plants, such as cotton, as the tractor passes along the rows is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a supporting frame including longitudinal support members mountable upon the front end of a tractor to project forward rather than rearwardly thereof, and transverse support members carried by the longitudinal support members. A plurality of insect destroying open topped metal pans are suspended from the transverse support members and are spaced to pass between rows of plants as the apparatus moves through a field. Each of the pans has an elongated perforated gas fired burner for heating the pan and for completely incinerating insects falling into the pans and laterally extending resilient agitator means or flexible aprons mounted thereon for knocking insects from the side branches of the plants. A vertically adjustable transverse agitator rod extends across the entire width of the apparatus directly above the pans for engaging the tops of plants and for knocking insects therefrom into the pans. Each of the pans is mounted to swing rearwardly and upwardly when encountering a stone or other low lying ground object, and motor operated means is provided for simultaneously raising and lowering all of the pans at the will of an operator.
