Abstract: An apparatus such as a wireless communication device (UE) may include first circuitry configured to conduct wireless communications according to a first radio access technology (RAT) in a first frequency band and in a second frequency band, where the first RAT is a cellular RAT, the first frequency band is in an unlicensed spectrum, and the second frequency band is in a licensed spectrum. The apparatus may include second circuitry configured to conduct wireless communications according to a second RAT in the first frequency band, wherein the second RAT is a wireless local area network (WLAN) RAT. The apparatus may be configured to determine to perform a scan operation in the first frequency band using the first circuitry and, based on one or more transmissions by the second circuitry using the first frequency band, adjust one or more parameters for the scan measurement by the first circuitry. The cellular communications in the first frequency band may be LAA communications, for example.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to performing uplink cellular communication in unlicensed frequency bands using Wi-Fi preamble information. A wireless device may receive downlink control information from a cellular base station. The downlink control information may indicate an uplink transmit opportunity for licensed assisted access communication for the wireless device. A length of the uplink transmit opportunity may be determined. Licensed assisted access uplink communication may be performed during the uplink transmit opportunity. A Wi-Fi physical layer preamble may be transmitted as part of the licensed assisted access uplink communication. A type of the Wi-Fi physical layer preamble may depend at least in part on the length of the uplink transmit opportunity.

Abstract: A wireless communication device (UE) includes a cellular processor configured to conduct wireless communications according to a first radio access technology (RAT) in a first frequency band and in a second frequency band, wherein the first RAT is a cellular RAT, the first frequency band is in an unlicensed spectrum, and the second frequency band is in a licensed spectrum. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes a wireless local area network (WLAN) processor configured to conduct wireless communications according to a second RAT in the first frequency band. In some embodiments, the cellular processor and the WLAN processor are configured to couple to a common antenna for communications in the first frequency band. In some embodiments, the cellular processor may notify the WLAN processor when it is scanning and/or when it is assigned secondary component carriers in the first frequency band. In some embodiments, the WLAN processor may notify the cellular processor when it is transmitting. In some embodiments, the WLAN processor and/or the cellular processor may perform one or more actions in response to such notifications to improve coexistence in the first frequency band.

Abstract: A wireless device, such as a user equipment device (UE), and a base station are disclosed, which may communicate with more efficient use of dynamic transmit time interval durations to enable a faster and more efficient ramp up of TCP communications to a higher or maximum throughput. The UE may communicate uplink or downlink communications with the base station according to a first shorter TTI duration for a first period of time. After the first period of time, the UE may communicate uplink or downlink communications to the base station according to a second longer TTI duration. For the case of uplink communications, the UE may be configured to increase a congestion window size after each acknowledgement of an uplink communication received by the base station during the first period of time. For the case of downlink communications, the base station may be configured to increase a congestion window size after each acknowledgement of a downlink communication received by the UE during the first period of time.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for time division based communication between a wireless device and a wireless network in a licensed radio frequency (RF) band and an unlicensed RF band are disclosed. The wireless device receives downlink control information (DCI), via a primary component carrier (PCC) of a primary cell (Pcell) in the licensed RF band, indicating downlink (DL) data transmission via a secondary component carrier (SCC) of a secondary cell (Scell) in the unlicensed RF band. The wireless device receives via the SCC part of the DL data transmission and transmits a control message via the PCC in response. The wireless device sends a scheduling request (SR) to the eNodeB and receives uplink (UL) transmission opportunities in a combination of the licensed RF band and the unlicensed RF band. The wireless device performs a clear channel assessment before reserving and transmitting to the eNodeB in the unlicensed RF band.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to performing cellular communication in unlicensed spectrum using a flexible slot structure. A cellular base station may perform a listen-before-talk procedure, and may transmit a reservation frame when the listen-before-talk procedure is successful. The reservation frame may reserve a wireless medium for a transmit opportunity. Transmission slots may be scheduled for communication with one or more wireless devices during the transmit opportunity. The transmission slots may be selected from multiple possible uplink transmission slot types and multiple possible downlink transmission slot types. Indications of the scheduled transmission slots, including indications of slot types of the scheduled transmission slots, may be provided to the wireless devices. Wireless communication may be performed between the cellular base station and the wireless devices according to the scheduled transmission slots.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to performing cellular communication in unlicensed spectrum in a manner that accounts for the possible existence of hidden nodes by opportunistically introducing the use of RTS and CTS messages. A listen-before-talk procedure may be performed to determine whether a wireless medium is available. When the listen-before-talk procedure is complete, an amount of time until a next possible start time for communicating in the cellular communication system according to a timing synchronization scheme for the cellular communication system may be determined. The wireless medium may be occupied until the next possible start time for communicating in the cellular communication system in a manner selected based at least in part on the amount of time until the next possible start time for communicating in the cellular communication system. Cellular communication may be performed on the wireless medium at the next possible start time for communicating in the cellular communication system.
