Abstract:
A method for radio link control in a mobile wireless communication device. The mobile wireless device transmits a sequence of service requests to establish radio resources with a wireless communication network for a data packet in a pending data buffer. When no radio resources are allocated in response to the transmitted sequence of service requests, the mobile wireless device sets a minimum threshold for the pending data buffer, discards all pending data packets above the minimum threshold and discards the oldest pending data packet. The mobile wireless device repeats transmitting and discarding until a radio resource is allocated or the pending data packet buffer is empty. A retry interval between successive service requests is increased after transmitting each sequence of service requests until reaching a maximum retry interval value.
Abstract:
A method for responding to a page message is provided. The method can include a wireless communication device receiving a page message on a first channel of a first network; suspending a connection to a second network in response to receiving the page message; transitioning to a second channel of the first network prior to responding to the page message; and sending a response message responsive to the page message on the second channel.
Abstract:
A connection with a network that includes a base station (BS) may be established by a user device (UE) via a wireless connection, for conducting communications using semi persistent scheduling (SPS) in a connected discontinuous reception (C-DRX) mode. The SPS transmit periodicity may be adjusted with respect to the SPS activation command and the SPS interval UL (for uplink). Data may then be transmitted during the C-DRX On-Duration periods according to the determined SPS transmit periodicity. In some embodiments, the SPS transmit periodicity is adjusted such that following a first C-DRX On-Duration period when an SPS activation command is received, SPS data transmission occurs a specified number of subframes earlier during each subsequent C-DRX On-Duration period than in the first C-DRX On-Duration period. The SPS data transmission in each subsequent C-DRX On-Duration period may take place as soon as the UE device wakes up during the On-Duration period.
Abstract:
Techniques are disclosed relating to reducing power consumption in dual-SIM devices. In some embodiments, a UE includes at least two SIMs, including a home SIM and a configurable SIM. In this embodiment, the UE is configured to register, using a first protocol stack, the configurable SIM with a local network. In these embodiments, the UE is configured to determine if the local network is an available network for the home SIM. In these embodiments, the UE is configured to register, using the first protocol stack, the home SIM with the local network in response to determining that the local network is an available network for the home SIM. In these embodiments, the UE is configured to monitor, using the first protocol stack, for pages for each of the home SIM using the identifier of the home SIM and the configurable SIM using the identifier of the configurable SIM.
Abstract:
A mobile wireless device maintains registration on two parallel wireless communication networks that each use different wireless communication protocols. In response to a first connection request received from a first wireless network, the mobile wireless device tunes a single receiver contained therein from the first wireless network to a second wireless network. Subsequently in response to a second connection request received from the second wireless network, the mobile wireless device connects to the second wireless network.
Abstract:
Adjusting search and measurement periodicity based on device motion. A wireless device may camp on a serving cell. Signal strength, signal quality, and signal to noise ratio of the serving cell may be measured. If each is above a respective threshold, and if the wireless device is stationary, the periodicities at which searches and neighbor cell measurements are performed may be adjusted (e.g., increased) from baseline periodicities.

Abstract:
Performing concurrent data communication and voice call monitoring using a single cellular radio. According to some embodiments, the UE may perform data communication, via the radio, using a first RAT, supported by a first SIM. The UE may also perform paging functions for a voice communication, via the radio, using a second RAT, supported by a second SIM. In some scenarios, the first and second RATs are the same. The data communication and the paging functions may be performed concurrently using shared physical layer resources. For example, the shared physical layer resources may comprise a shared software defined radio (SDR) configured to demodulate and/or decode signals of the data communication and the paging function. As another example, the shared physical layer resources may comprise a shared Rake receiver configured to demodulate signals of the data communication and the paging function.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates to techniques for scheduling radio resource control connections between a wireless device and a network element of a network in advance. According to some embodiments, a wireless device may provide an indication of one or more types of upcoming data traffic to the network element. The network element may schedule one or more radio resource control connections for the wireless device based at least in part on the indication of one or more types of upcoming data traffic. The network element may provide an indication of the scheduled radio resource control connection(s) to the wireless device. The wireless device and the network may establish the scheduled radio resource control connection at the scheduled time.
Abstract:
Avoiding conflicts between radio access technologies (RATs) in a device configured to operate according to multiple RATs. The device may be operated in a discontinuous reception (DRX) mode according to each of a first RAT and a second RAT using a shared radio. It may be determined that a conflicting wakeup time is scheduled according to DRX cycles of the first and second RATs. A subscriber identity of the device may be changed in response to determining that a conflicting wakeup time is scheduled according to DRX cycles of the first and second RATs.
