Abstract: An electronic device, such as a dynamic transaction card having an EMV chip, that acts as a TPM having a memory, an applet, and a cryptographic coprocessor performs secure firmware and/or software updates, and performs firmware and/or software validation for firmware and/or software that is stored on the electronic device. Validation may compare a calculated checksum with a checksum stored in EMV chip memory. If a checksum calculated for firmware and/or a software application matches a checksum stored in EMV chip memory of the transaction card, the transaction card may operate normally. If a checksum calculated for firmware and/or a software application does not match a checksum stored in EMV chip memory of the transaction card, the transaction card may freeze all capabilities, erase the memory of the transaction card, display data indicative of a fraudulent or inactive transaction card, and/or the like.

Abstract: A dynamic transaction card with a display for providing barcodes is described. The barcodes can be generated by driving individual light emitting diodes (LEDs) of the display at frequencies of greater than 50 Hz. Due to the high frequency, the barcode can be readable by a barcode scanner, while remaining invisible to the human eye. The barcode can also be generated by driving a first set of LEDs at a different frequency and/or time interval than a second set of LEDs. Light waves from the first set of LEDs can constructively interfere with light waves from the second set of LEDs to create spatial voids readable by the barcode scanner.

Abstract: A laser printing system includes a laser configured to produce a beam of light modulated according to image data input to the laser printing system, a photoreceptor drum including a photoconductive layer disposed along an outer peripheral surface of the photoreceptor drum, and a non-mechanical beam steerer configured for receiving the modulated light beam from the laser and steering the light beam in a scanning motion back and forth across the photoconductive layer of the photoreceptor drum. The laser printing system also includes a printer controller configured to structure the image data input to the laser printing system, and control an amount of electrical current flowing through portions of the non-mechanical beam steerer to change an effective index of refraction of the non-mechanical beam steerer and steer the modulated light beam in the scanning motion.

Abstract: Using inductive currents to wirelessly charge a device via a device connected to a power source. This inductive charging may result when a first mobile device recognizes a second mobile device via a wireless connection (e.g., Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Near-Field Communication (NFC), or the like). An application stored on the first mobile device may recognize a second mobile device by transmitting an advertising packet when the first mobile device is connected to a power source. An advertising packet may be received by the second mobile device and the second mobile device may transmit a response to the advertising packet in order to generate a connection between the first and second mobile devices. The response may include data such as, connection strength, response time, connection preferences, and the like. Upon detection and connection, the second mobile device may be wirelessly charged by the first device via inductive charging.
