Abstract:
An improved decorative light string circuit comprises full bridge rectification located in or downstream of the front plug, wherein the rectification circuit contains one or more voltage reducing and/or filtering elements in order to reduce or limit LED drive current and reduce (filter) DC ripple and 1 or 2 LED series sets. Additional rectification circuits and LED series sets can be added in parallel to the first in “stacked mode”, with each rectification circuit and LED series set electrically independent of prior and subsequent circuits. This eliminates the rectifying diode current summation load restrictions imposed by prior art and associated safety hazard due to diode overheating.
Abstract:
A planar steel template the shape of a desired opening to be cut into a fence or wall. The template is affixed to fence pickets or over the top of sheet rock or other wallboard covering the structural members of a wall. Once the template has been fastened in place, an opening through the wall or fence shaped to the inside of the template can be cut away. No further framing or reinforcing is needed as the template supports the severed structural members. An adjustable window set fits inside the resulting opening and extends through the fence or wall, and facie boards sandwich the fence and cover the template. A decorative insert comprising wrought iron, stained glass or the like fits within the window set to decorate and/or limit intrusion through the opening.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for managing computer system configuration data are provided. The method includes staging the configuration data in a staging memory accessible to a first application, selecting a path for a transfer of the configuration data from the staging memory to a target memory, emulating a hardware data loader using a second software application adapted to control a transfer of the configuration data from the staging memory to the target memory, and transferring the configuration data from the staging memory to the target memory using the emulator. The method further effectively expands a memory capacity of a Flight Management Computer by providing swappable memory capacity such that a re-certification to Federal Aviation Administration standards of the Flight Management Computer is not triggered.
Abstract:
An automated system collects information related to various factors that affect fuel costs, and determines an optimal amount of fuel to be loaded on an aircraft. Information related to an aircraft's fuel efficiency is collected from the aircraft; price information is collected for the stops made by the aircraft; and flight plan information is collected for each flight. The collected information is used to determine or estimate the fuel requirements of the aircraft and an optimal amount of fuel to load onto the aircraft at a location.
Abstract:
A system and method for establishing a mutually authenticated secure link between a mobile platform system and a remote system is provided. An onboard computer system (OCS) generates a dynamic certificate and digitally signs the dynamic certificate with a static certificate. The dynamic certificate is transmitted to a remote central computer system (CCS). The CCS verifies that the dynamic certificate is from a trusted source and sends a return dynamic certificate electronically signed with the static certificate to the OCS. The OCS verifies the return dynamic certificate is from the CCS, thereby establishing a mutually authenticated secure link between the OCS and the CCS.
Abstract:
A natural language-based information organization and collaboration tool for a computer system is disclosed. The system includes an apparatus and method for processing text expressions in a computer system. The apparatus comprises a user input device for receiving an input text expression; a parser to identify the keyword in the input text expression, the parser including functions for linking the input text expression to the information object based on the keyword identified in the input text expression; and a user output device for displaying to the user the identity of the information object to which the input text expression was linked.
Abstract:
A cooling system for a heat producing system includes a heat exchanger in fluid communication with the heat producing system. The heat exchanger is configured to receive a temperature control fluid therethrough. A first fan is operable in a first rotational direction to move air through the heat exchanger in a first direction. A second fan is disposed radially adjacent to the first fan, and is operable in a second rotational direction opposite the first rotational direction to move air through the heat exchanger in the first direction. A control system, including at least one controller, is provided for controlling operation of the fans.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for remote access document production are disclosed herein. As an example, one such method includes providing a first computer executing a document production suite. The first computer is communicably coupled to a computer network, and provides a layout space to a second computer via the communication network. Commands are received from the second computer in relation to the layout space, and based on the commands, a document is constructed.
Abstract:
A water pump assembly for controlling the flow of temperature control fluid in an internal combustion engine. The water pump assembly includes a housing with an inlet, an outlet and an electric motor assembly for causing fluid to flow from the inlet to the outlet. A housing includes a mounting flange for mounting the water pump to an engine. The mounting of the water pump permitting direct flow into or out of the engine from the water pump.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for managing information related to backup storage activities of data storage systems. In a computer system having one or more independent backup data storage systems coupled to each other and each serving one or more clients, a user may obtain information related to backup activities of any of the backup storage systems from a single location. Through a user interface associated with any of the backup storage systems, or through a stand alone user interface, a user may manage (e.g., organize, display, print) information related to backup activities of any or all of the backup storage systems. System administrators can design and store a variety of report formats that may be utilized by any user to display or print various parameters associated with backup activities in a particular manner. Report formats may be edited by users, and displayed parameters may be dynamically updated to provide for active monitoring of one or more backup storage systems. Additionally, periodic backup activity reports can be generated and automatically sent to designated locations, for example to one or more printers and/or to one or more designated recipients via E-mail.
