摘要: A method of operating a cleaning process on a filter in a vehicle air intake includes passing air through the filter from an upstream side to a downstream side, and providing an exhaust duct having an inlet end adjacent the upstream side of the filter and an outlet end adjacent a cooling fan or other air-extraction device of the vehicle arranged to draw air through the exhaust duct from the inlet end to the outlet end. In a periodic cleaning subroutine, the rotational speed of the fan is increased from a first speed to a second speed, while a pulse of pressurized fluid is applied to a downstream side of the filter. The exhaust duct carries away material dislodged from the upstream side of the filter by the applied pulse, and the rotational speed of the fan is reduced to its original level.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for reducing ice formation in a charge air cooler. In one example, a method includes, operating a radiator fan of a vehicle in a first direction to cool an engine of the vehicle, and reversing a direction of rotation of the radiator fan to blow heated air towards a charge air cooler, the charge air cooler arranged proximate a radiator of the vehicle. Operating the radiator fan in a first direction may be based on the engagement of one or more gears of a transmission of the vehicle while operating the radiator fan in the reverse direction may be based on an engine temperature condition, one or more ambient weather conditions, and an engine idle condition.

摘要: A fan blade (134) includes a working region (148) having a leading edge (138) and a pressure side (136). A plurality of flow modification features (150-1 to 150-4) are positioned at the working region, including first and second flow modification features (150-1, 150-2, 150-3) each having a wedge shape with a pointed end (152) and a wider end (154), and located on the pressure side. A length of the first flow modification feature is less than a chord length of the fan blade, and the pointed end of the first flow modification feature is spaced from the leading edge. A length of the second flow modification feature is less than the chord length of the fan blade, and the pointed end of the second flow modification feature is spaced from the leading edge. The first and second flow modification features are spaced from each other to define a channel (156) therebetween.

摘要: A genset has an enclosure in which a bulkhead separates the enclosure into a high pressure compartment and a low pressure compartment. A first fan is located in the high pressure compartment and draws ambient air into the high pressure compartment and pressurizes the high pressure compartment to a first pressure that is greater than ambient pressure. A radiator is located within the high pressure compartment such that the pressurized air in the high pressure compartment flows through the radiator and out of the high pressure compartment. A generator is located in the high pressure compartment and provides a gas flow path therethrough from the high pressure compartment to the low pressure compartment. An engine is located in the low pressure compartment and is coupled to the radiator for cooling and is coupled to the generator through the bulkhead to drive the generator.

摘要: The aspects described herein enable improved axial airflow along the entire length of the blades of a fan. The fan includes a hub with fan blades extending therefrom. Each fan blade couples to the hub and includes a proximal end, a distal end, a leading edge, and a trailing edge. Each fan blade is non-uniform, twisted, reverse-swept, and non-airfoil. The width at the proximal end is greater than the width of a fan blade at the distal end. The twist begins at the neck at the proximal end of the fan blade and continues along the length of the radius toward the distal end. The thickness of each fan blade along its chord width remains approximately the same, and thus non-airfoil. As a result, the fan provides axial airflow along the entire length of each fan blade, instead of just outer regions of the fan blades.
